image.webp This is penny. I got her a few months ago. When I got her her hair was longer than American guinea pigs, but it wasn't really long. She was also about a month old. Her siblings had the same hair she did, but some of them had rosettes on their heads. The top picture was her on April 30th and the bottom was her on June 23rd.

The front half is sheltie (UK)/silkie (US), but shelties have all over straight long hair, so I suspect that there is a bit of aby or peru mixed in there. Very pretty!

Thank you! I think you may be correct. I was surprised when her hair kept growing, but I think she looks beautiful with it. Do you think it will continue growing? If so, should I increase the amount of baths? I give them a bath about once every couple of months. I do brush her every day though so her fur doesn't get tangled.

The hair in longhaired piggies keep growing. I cut mine short during the summer, so they are running around with the equivalent of a ski suit on a tropical beach! The hair will grow back for autum and winter.

Keeping the hair cut short around the bum end and on the sides, just leaving a longer overcoat will make life easier on both of you, as those are areas that mess and tangle up most. Often, a lukewarm water bum bath will do instead of a full bath, especially if she is one of the 80% of piggies who is not keen on bathing.
