i dont know where to get my guinea pigs from, a pet shop is out of the question because of all the storys i have heard. I want to get it in a rescue centre because they can help me pick the best guinea pig for me. I cant find any rescue centures near me i live near kettering. But i am not so sure about the house check because i have 4 siblings (a 5,7, and a 14 year old, and the last on is still on its way) but the cage will be in my room and i can lock it so they cant get in. When they come for a house check what do they try to look for, what do they think is good, bad?

well i dont think they are still there, but thanks for trying

I think they'd just look that your cage is big enough, that you know how to look after them etc. And also that financially you can look after them. I'm sure it'd be fine.

Home checks are not all that scary, it's more of a nice chat with someone who loves guinea pigs :)

They will check that the cage has the required size and that you have space for a run in the yard (but only if that's one of their requirements).

Just show them you have read up and that you have plans to take care of the piggies for their whole life (I don't know how old you are, but some kind of plan for what happens when you move away from home may be in place?)
