something reasonably priced so that I can dabble in what I wish to and that could make cage liners and go through fleece, but then when I become my usual self and get stressed I give up its not so bad?

Thank you lovely, I get that, I just have a bit of a 'give up' tendency! X
What a mistake last Christmas I got a beldray £50 sewing machine. Piece of rubbish, doesn't take much material, and sewing the thread is hard. I hope this one is better. It is on offer at HobbyCraft, if you want to save a few more pounds.

I've got a Janome sewing machine which my Mum brought for me when I was at Uni. I'd spent the summer sewing a toy octopus on her old machine so she got me my own so that I wasn't always pinching hers.

It's been very reliable, sturdy and copes well with the hammering I give it. I really only usually make toys, so I'm using fur fabric and fleece or cord a lot so get lots of fluff flying off all the time and I haven't bunged it up yet. I have broken a fair few needles - but that was when I was sewing beer towles to a blazer to make my husband a beer towel drinking jacket...... my machine coped even with that heavy duty sewing.

Can't remember the model off hand, will have a look tonight. It is at least 14 years old now though and it's still going strong. I think @Chief Guinea Pig is right - you do get what you pay for.

Where you sleep depraved again when you wrote this? It's almost erratic as my posts;-) I think fuzzbert is tiring you out. I better come and take him off your hands to give you a bit of rest;-)

I think so, I didn't realise how late I posted it!

You can take him off my hands if you take Frank too! :D

Had a quick look on the website and there's noting identical to the machine I've got on there. Thinking about it I must have had my machine back in about 2000 - so it's probably an old model that's no longer manufactured.

Good luck finding something to work on. I love my machine. :)

my mum has just replaced her Frister Rossman (spelling?) that she has had for years and used massively over that time. The machine came last week and mum was a bit apprehensive to see what her 'freebies' where, but omg she got 5 boxes of 10 big cotton things, i dont know what you call them, but the big fat cotton rolls that have a cardboard type centre? All in different colours, two boxes of needles, a pack of five scissors and something else that i cant remember now, but she was super impressed.
