What would I want to look for?

With the cage construction underway, I can finally start looking at pigs! I'm hoping that once the cage is done, I can convince my parents to let me adopt another guinea pig. Right now I have a neutered male and a female. So an uneutered male is already out of the question, but what do I want? Would I want to look at other females, or neutered males, or what?

I've got to go eat dinner now so I'll add more later, but any input is greatly appreciated!
 
I would look for another female if i were you. A neutered male will happily live with 2/3/4 or more females :)

My neutered male has 4 wifelets :)
 
I would get another female, males love a harem ;D
 
such pigfidelity and pigamist, what is the world coming too? will have to get the :police: :police: :police: to look into this. this harem thing is a big no no. men have to learn to be faithful to one piggy! :tickedoff: :tickedoff: :tickedoff:

haha okay. So female it is? Thats kinda what I was thinking. Buddy will be okay sharing her man?

Pepsi and Buddy are brother/sister (I think, thats what they told us) so they've been together forever. There won't be any problems adding another pig to the herd, will there?

I found these two females at a rescue 10 minutes away from me! but they have to go to a home together and if i got two more piggies that would be 4 pigs in a cage thats a good size for 3. I'd rather stick to just my two piglets and have them live comfy over having loads that are smooshed.

haha choloe I agree! But pepsi needs a woman more devoted to HIM! buddy's so pushy and I think she and Lexi are having an affair...So pepsi needs a back up plan, methinks.
 
This same dilemma is going on in another thread, can 3 live together - yes sometimes, depending on the other pigs temperments and the new pig joining them. I have 3 together who have so far worked, but last year I had 3 different pigs together and the baby kept getting left out :(
 
aww! well i'm pretty sure pepsi would be fine with another pig..he's so docile and calm. But buddy might take some work. she's very dominant and pushy...i guess I'd just want a less dominant female?
