My beautiful trio has quickly gone down to one (2 unexplained deaths ) and feel bad hector is on his own but at the same time anxious about addin another wiggle again. Taking hector to te vets for a check over but there is probably nothing wrong with him.

Personally as he has been used to company I would either boar date him or put him on the waiting list for a spayed sow if he still has his "space hoppers" - if he is neutered he could also have a wife-pig.
Hector will be very lonely. Please find him another friend of his own choice. You are not that far from Crawley Guinea Pig Rescue, which offers full boar dating. That will make sure that Hector will only come home with a friend he really gets on with and can have a stable relationship.
Depending on Hector's age, you can have him neutered by a good vet (again ask Crawley for who they use) and pair him with a sow or two when he is 100% safe after 6 weeks of post op wait. I find dating at a rescue in any case by far the best and most successful way to ensure a pair or small group works out. By getting your girls from a good rescue you also won't run the sadly all too common risk of aquiring pregnant piggies and the whole rattail of headaches that can cause! http://www.crawleyguineapigrescue.org/
If you can it would be lovely for Hector to have a house buddy
ahhhhhh Wiebke says you're not far from Crawley
Give him a little stuffed toy (nothing he can chew off, as in eyes etc) till you can sort out what you're going to do.
