Sorry i forgot to say parents arnt allowing me to get another piggie while am living at home :( Even though i've told them what can happen. I could try convince them to let me rescue one from a shelter but i doubt they will.

I reckon you ought to give it a try asking them, say us lot on here suggested getting another one as they get lonely on their own ;)

Flowdy how old are you hunny? Do you take full responsibility for your pigs yourself?

Am 19 (20 in December) and yeah i take full responsibility for my pigs, The reason am not allowed another one is because my parents get upset when one dies and cost alot of money to keep.. And i can't really afford another one yet until september when i get my student loan again. As Snap took up near £600 of my money and thats all i had.

i live with my mum and dad still as well i will be 21 in decmber and i went from 2 piggies to 4 to 8 to now 12 piggies and i pay and do evetything for my piggies when i only had my first 2 holly and meggie we also had 2 rabbits but both died and had an empty cage and i tolf them I'm geting 2 more piggies and i did then lilly had 4 babies and told them I'm keeping them and than had 4 more babies and told them I'm keeping them too

i jsut tell my mum and dad I'm doing this or that

I do tell them its my money and i will look after them but they still refuse to let me. . . I will have to see how well i can attend to him and if he does do a u-turn and get all depressed and doing nowt i will have to put my food down. Even if i have to rescue one the same age as him.

Good luck love :)
I bought our Duke a stuffed toy dog who he plays with, tosses him around etc.. ;D ;D ;D
Because i've spent sooo much money my OH refuses for me to have another piggie at this stage >:(
BUT there's ways and means, i'm working on him >:D >:D

If another pig isnt an option, you could keep him occupied by having to forage for his own food. Carrots can be hung from a piece of sturdy wire or hemp string or stuck into airbricks. Half cabbages can be strung up the same way. Or try swapping over so most of his nutrition comes from grass. It takes them longer to eat than concentrates (though you may be amazed at the amount they get through if it is their staple) and therefore leaves them less time to be bored in.

if you do eventually get him a friend you would be better getting a baby boar, as he has more chance of accepting a baby than an adult piggie, the younger the better.
good luck

I'd defo agree with that. We have just bonded our 6 year old with a baby. And we're gonna try another baby with them as soon as I find another in rescue.

Good Luck

I wasn't there when my dad went to pic snap up but he asked if another one could be put in with him and she said no, As when he was in getting his nails cut he was agressive and i was there when he got them cut and he wasn't at all 98) which is the reason why she said not to put him with another one.. Off to Pets at Home tomarrow ill see what i can get for him

i don't think the vet is correct saying this, just because he doesn't like having his nails cut doesn't mean he wont like a little friend, a baby boar is still a good idea, and by the way some vets do not know alot about guinea pigs, if they don't have alot of experience with them they will have little knowledge about them. if you did want to then it would have to be a baby boy guinea like i said before.

wtf!  :o    Somebody is obviously telling porkies - and it isnt you by the sounds of it!
Hope you told your dad this wasnt the case. Having another little friend would be the best thing for little crackle. Not really sure... but I would say the younger the better cos then crackle can feel he's the dominant one. Again good luck with whatever you and your family decide to do.  O0

(Have you thought about adopting from a rescue centre? Sure they'd have plenty of babies or young piggies available.)

rescue piggies are usually cheaper than pet shop ones too. x and you know your getting the right sex too.

I would rescue and get him a friend for sure. That's what I did with a pig I used to have, he was doing some anxious/depressed behavior so I had him neautered and rescued the sweetest little girl pig for him. They got along beautifully. Neautering can be expensive though. I don't know what it costs you all, but here is was about $100 for the mandatory exam and the procedure.

I keep bringing it up with me mam as she the ones that decided wheather or not things go or not. I asked her the reason why seeing as i pay for everything they need. Her reason is because its too upsetting when they die which is understanding, So it looks like thats out the window (at the moment for the time being as i normally get my way)
