I have a shed! The hutch is inside the shed, and last winter i used lof insulation to cover the top, sides and back of the hutch three layers of blankets and plenty of cosies/vetbed/fleece/cardbaord boxes filled with hay
My shed is being delivered on the 15th of Sept:<>. Not having another outdoor winter like the last one :{ They will have two 6x2ft 3floor = 36 square ft hutches with a sun terrace infront of the windows. 3 poss 4 (if OH allows) pigs per hutch.
We are just in the process of getting our shed done this weekend.mine are usually out all year too but after last winter i decided it was just too cold i was worried sick about them as it was minus 13 here.michelle x
I'll be insulating my new shed with polystyrene sheeting and boarding over that. They will get plenty of hay, the hutches will get covered over with kingsized heavy duty winter duvets and i'm installing safe fume free electric heating to take the chill out of the air. It was -20 here last winter, i'm taking no chances.
I've made space in the garage - not managed to clear it out as planned that needs a skip which my Dad does not want and would take so much time, not managed it with having the rewire/decorating done. Got a spare table cleared and would move the spare hutch onto that.
Leo bunny has lived outdoors for 14 years but with the cold winters of late Melvin and Parsnip guineas will have the option of the garage - had it all rewired in there and is well lit, could add a heater if needed too (and better offer to pay more towards the electrical bills!)
I'd love to move them indoors but can't fit a big enough cage in my room as they would need a 140+ one. I'm still wanting a shed but not got one yetrolleyes Parents don't want cages in the rest of the house so have to respect that as I live with them.
Got loads of covers/duvets/plastic covers and will buy some more snuggle safes before weather turns.
I've said to myself I'd not take anymore guineas/rabbits on unless they can go inside or I get a shed, I am taking another guinea on soon but that's fine as he will go in a cage in my room as he is special needs and a lone boy so is an indoor piggy
