What's going on?!

Good evening guys 😊

So, the other day, as a birthday surprise, my husband and little brother got me a pair of rescue boys. They are settling in to their new hutch nicely, next to my trio. Two of the older boys have had a nosey and said hi, and that's been that, but one of them is furiously obsessed! He keeps wheeking at the newbies, and then when they come close he's rumblestrutting with his hackles up, but the minute they go away he's back wheeking, and just staring and not moving from the spot closest to them. They aren't going to be mixed, just neighbours, but do I need to be concerned about this behaviour, or will he chill out eventually?

I believe he should eventually quieten down but I'll tag @Wiebke who I know has piggies with neighbours.

Hi! He sounds possibly a bit upset/frightened by having neighbours?
Rumblestrutting is the way boars measure up to each others. Sitting/lying at the border of the territory is what I call a power lie-in. It is a territorial dominance gesture and not necessarily the friendly 'I want to be with you' as that most people mistake it.

He should however chill out eventually.

Can you take a video because all I can do it guess. You will have to upload it elsewhere on a public setting before parsing the link into your post as we do not have a video uploading facility.

Look out for the chapters on fear and fear-aggression:
Moody guinea pigs: Depression, Bullying, Aggression, Stress, Fear and Antisocial Behaviour
Bonding and Interaction: Illustrated social behaviours and bonding dynamics

I didn't think he was sounding too pleased about the new development! It's only been 2 days so far, so I'll see how they are going forward. Thank you for your help
