I have some ply wood left over so I'm going to build a little house for when they have floor time, is just normal timber safe for them? Or is there a specific type of wood I should use?

Has anyone else built stuff for pigs any ideas of what they might like would be appreciated

I believe Cuprinol paint is safe :)

Edit-
Ignore me, I didn't read your post properly :P Kiln dried is supposed to be safe.

There is quite a big debate at the moment over what exact wood is safe for piggies. I've heard a few people say that the wood in toys designed for them isn't safe either :( I'm sure someone will come along that knows a safe one!

Interesting, because I work with timber, a little splinter can be really sore, it can easily splinter a guineapigs Mouth? We do have shop purchased wooden toys which they seem to enjoy.

If it's safe to do so I really want to build a cool little hut for them to play in with a slope they can go up with sides so they don't jump off, just something new for them, prices of the timber hut in pets at home are crazy
