Hello. So about a week ago, my pig started making these hooting noises. I was ready to bring him to the vet, quite sure it was a URI although he had no other signs yet. But one morning he just stopped making the noises altogether, without me doing anything about it.
Yesterday evening, he started doing them again and I don't know what they mean. His normal "voice" (as in when he wheeks and explores) is quite a lot higher than that weird low rumble. It seems to me that this might be his hurt noise, but I really don't know what hurts. I assume that, had it been a URI, he wouldn't have stopped, but only gotten worse.
Also, I imagine that the hooting sounds from URI are caused by difficulty breathing. But Caramel only does it from time to time and is breathing fine the rest of the time.
So I thought maybe it was a problem with his spine, as he does it when bending to scratch around his belly (as you can see on the video below). But he's fine with running around and sleeping all curled up. So I thought maybe his nipple were hurting, but they're fine. He does it when eating sometimes too, but his front teeth are perfectly fine, so maybe his back teeth hurt ? But I can't really check those and anyway, he uses them to drink and he doesn't make noise when drinking...
He's also eating fine, popcorning, chasing his buddy around and his weight is always stable. I'm really clueless. I might be worrying for nothing but if I don't and my pig has been sick for 2 weeks, I need to react quick.

My piggy does this regular and as far as I'm aware it's normal. He does it when cleaning himself occasionally and if he's in a certain position whilst eating.

That's very reassuring, thank you. Waiting for some more testimonies maybe

If you are at all worried take him to the vet. A vet would rather see a healthy piggy with nothing wrong and an anxious owner than an I'll piggy with an owner that has left it too late.
