Well, I use Gerty Guinea, I have tried Wagg but my piggies don't seem interested :)) fussy piggies

Plain pellet feeds are best, if you can get your pigs to eat them. The most common plain feeds in UK are:

- Science Selective Guinea Pig
- Burgess Supa Tasty Nuggets / Burgess Supa Tasty Nuggets Blackcurrant and Oregano
- Oxbow Cavy Cuisine
- Wagg Optimum
- Pets at Home Nuggets

I am sure there are more. Don't forget the stickies in this part of the forum, with some reviews of a few different brands of dried food.

I started using Gerty GP, but I've read it contain artificial colourings that are harmful. Now I use Wagg Optmum, the piggies love this and they can't selective feed

best thing to do is email companies and ask for samples, so you can try them and see which your pigs prefer. there is no "best" brand, only the one that your pigs like the most.

Mine are on a cheap brand of pellets from Makro at the moment but once this is used up I'm going back on the Burgess. It looks much tastier - although they do demolish the cheap stuff.

Wagg at the mo using up Maggies winnings lol and then probably stick with Wagg they eat it so can't grumble. Pellet wise usually Burgess though. :)

hi becky p, i just heard that aparently you lost a guinea pig today or was that just me! anyway thanks for the reply, i think i might chose the one that piggie owners usualy use! thanks and keep 'm' coming!

There are some fab little dudes in that competition. I particularly like Bobby the 'hamster' on p16! Well done to Maggie for fending off all that cute competition! :)

Mine have Wagg Optimum and a guinea pig crunch mix by my local farm.

Ive tried burgess pellets and they would rather go without, than eat it mallethead

I used to give mine Gerty Guinea Pig but over the past month I've noticed that one of my boys was coughing alot.
I paid extra attention to him and found that it was while he was eating the mix...I looked into it and found that Gerty Guinea Pig is also a choking hazard because it has tiny seeds in it.

I switched right away to Burgess Excel nuggets and my Piggies not only seem to like them more (They're eating 2 bowls a day between them!) but I haven't heard either of them coughing.

I'm a very over protective mother :<>

That being said. My brother gives his GGP and he's never had any problems at all.
But they do the whole selective feeding thing and leave what they don't like.

Sorry. Was this too long?
It's my first post...I like being helpful.

I use Burgess Guinea Pig Excel nuggets. My girls seem to love it!

Used to use Pets at Home nuggets but they didn't seem too keen and since switching to Burgess, their coats seem meach healthier and shinier.

I'd recommend the nuggets as it prevents selective feeding and allows them to get all the nutrients they need.

I feed Cavy Cuisine to the older ones and Cavy Performance (Alfalfa Based) to the two boys who are both under 6 months.

Speaking of, they're almost out of the Cavy Cuisine! :)) Gotta make the 45 min journey to get more!

mine have wagg guinia pig cruch and all 11 of them love it

but there have had gerty before and the pets at home stuff

mine wont have nothing to do with pellets

mine will eat any kind of brand mix food

My 2 new boys came in eating Gertie Guinea, so I tried to put my older boys onto it instead of the Wagg, I find that both sets of pigs leave a lot of the Gertie, so've started mixing in Burgess excel with Thyme and Oregano, which was snaffled up for a few days and now they've started wasting a lot.

I'm thinking of going back to the Wagg mix, because it's cheaper and I can get it from the local supermarket, plus I never had any problems with my older pair of boys with it. What I'll save on it , will pay for extra Excel Timothy Hay, with Dandelion and Calendula, which they are absolute greedy pigs with.rolleyes. Even though they get the best meadow hay we use for the horses, they eat the timothy hay first.
