to your piggies? The petshop had it in the water, but I've read that it doesn't hold up well in water. If drops, what do you do, stick it in their mouths? ?
Putting it in water is a bad idea in my opinion. It dissolves, piggies won't drink it, etc. Like Kelly said, foods high in vitamin C are the best way to go. Kale is the best that I have found and they just love it! Oranges, apples, carrots, etc. are good too.
I give mine a variety of veg, so.. In order to avoid them not getting enough Vit C - I give them a Vit C supplement which can be added to water or put on food every three days.
I put it on their dry food and they eat their food like normal. c:
I buy those effervescent vit C tablets and dissolve them in their water bottles. They are orange flavour and the piggies seem to like the taste cos they drink it all ;D. I only use them if I feel the piggy could use a vitamin boost (I use multi-vitamin ones as well) for eg, pregnant, recovering from illness etc.
Like the others have said, the best way is through plenty of fruit and veg. The general rule of thumb is, the brighter the colour of the fruit/veg, the higher the vit C content.
I won't put ours in the water cos they wouldn't drink it and on further investigation found out that it lost it's effectiveness anyway. Like other posters, I make sure I feed a good variety of veg, and most days put a drop of Vit C on a piece of carrot as they all love that and it's guaranteed they will eat it!
