Aww bless, I've no idea, but give Lucky a bit hug and smooch from me! It could be a growth but best to get it checked. Calam's got a fatty lump on his chest, the vets reckon it's harmless.

Thank you, I really hope he'll be ok and it's nothing serious, it's not bothering him but it looks horrible

It could be a tare (not sure how this is spelt!)...basically a grass or other such seed that gets worked into their foot or pad. Is it sore for him when you squeeze it? Our dog got one in between his pads and it looked really similar. We did take him to the vets but they said the best thing for him was to let it come out naturally by bathing his foot twice a day in salt water. They did however give him something to fight the infection so I would deffo suggest a vet visit :)

Hard to tell from the pic if its under the foot or on top (probaby just my eyes!) but it looks like a lick granuloma to me.. Its where the dog continuously licks one area, and a lump forms. It can be caused by a skin problem but more commonly stress or, seen in older dogs, when they have dementia and become confused. Its best to keep it clean and dry, and to stop him licking it. Can be done by placing a buster collar (cone on his head) or dressing the wound- but the cone idea is easier. You can try an adaptil plug
In- its a plug that releases pheromones that calms dogs that are stressed. Do u have many fireworks at the mo by any chance?

I would get a vet to check to be safe :)

It's on top of the foot. It seems uncomfortable for him if squeezed but not painful.

Will still be going to the vets yes :-) not had any fireworks yet no!

And he is 9 so getting on a bit bless him. He doesn't normally constantly lick himself anywhere. We have got a collar so will try that thank you. Is it just salt water to keep it clean do you know?

Thank you very much

I would definitely get him checked by the PDSA or RSPCA vet. It is possible that it could be something easily treated. But you really need an expert to see it to get a correct diagnosis. Poor Chap it must be irritating him if he is licking it. I hope all goes well.

@Galaxy&nibbles can't take him to the PDSA because she's not in their catchment area but from what she was saying to me in PM she can get help with his treatment from the PDSA at another vet, she's just waiting on the forms (I think that's right).

Bathe with salt water and pat dry after the buster collar is on.. So he cant lick anymore. Dont squeeze, as its not something thay can be "popped".. Definately looks like a lick granuloma to me. He could only be licking it when your not there- if he becomes stressed/ has seperation anxiety. Its not always stress, It could be an age thing, or sometimes indicative of pain elsewhere, and the dog licks the one spot as a soothig technique. Does he have arthritis? Sometimes that can trigger it. I would still get a vet to double check, and if no medical cause is found, i would purchase an adaptil plug in- excellent for de stressing them. X

Someone said does it hurt when squeezed, hence why we squeezed, but don't worry won't happen again!

Yes he has arthritis, I'll also look at these adaptil plug in things. Thank you.

Thank you, I hope it's nothing serious, I'd be lost without my dog! I'll let you all know. Thank you
