hi i don't know if anyone can help i noticed the other day that my piggy had a very slight watery eye well that seems to have cleared up now but this morning when i went in to feed him he had a bit of a sneezing fit then coughed a bit as well could he havea cold or something? i do tend to get a bit paranoid about my lil piggies so i thought i would ask every one here first before bothering the vet (again!) his still the first one up for the food in the morning so his still eating!
any ideas?
thanks in advance

Re: whas up with my piggy??

maybe he has a cold?
just make sure he's kept warm and is getting pleanty of vitamin c, something like red peppers or carrots (or oranges if he will eat them) will help with this, if he's still eating then he's maybe just got a slight cold
hope this helps and i hope he's feeling better soon O0

What bedding is he on?
Have you just started a new bag (even of your normal bedding) or got to the end of a bag of something?

Could be URI and would possibly need the vet if it stays that way O0

This is possibly a allergic reaction to something as Karen has suggested. If the piggy has a URTI he will very soon start looking hunched up and off his food.Keep a very close eye on him.

The causes of allergy in piggies are numerous and very difficult to pin down. You really have to look at everything in the vicinity of his accomodation.Piggies do seem a bit prone to allergy and even somethinmg as simple as perfume or hand cream on the owner can be the culprit.

Household cleaners, detergents ,polishes are all suspect. Aiir fresheners, even plug in ones can cause sneezing and runny eyes, but the worst culprits are sprays of any kind.

I do hope this is just an allergy, and that you can find the cause.

Its funny you should say that because he had a fit of the sneezes just as i filled up the hay rack and i thought it seemed a bit dusty smelling its just with him having a runny eye the other day i thought they might be linked i'll get a new bag tommorrow!

thanks :smitten:

I changed the bedding and his completly better today it must of just been that bag cause its the same as i always use
