Hello, i really need your help!I took lulu out of the cage last night again to check her out and make sure that shes healthy..but i flipped her over on to her back and shes got a bump, its got a few holes in it, and there is white stuff coming out of it!I'm very worried about her...she just had a c-section done to remove 2 accidental babies(sadly they didnt live more than a day) and the vet spayed her in the process(on purpose) but that was a month and a half ago...and I'm so scared that she might have an infection!my mother said that it couldnt be an infection though..well let me describe it for you!
Heres the list of what it looks like

*Sort of Pink
*white goo coming from it
*a couple of little holes(thats what the goo is coming from)
*Not mushy
*its sort of hard

well thats the best i can describe it....
Heres a pic of her!(ive got 8 guinea pigs)Its not very good!

I'm not sure what it could be but c sections are very hard on pigs and i have heard of them falling ill some time after having one.i would get her to a vet asap xx

as above id be right back to the vet today with her incase it is an infection she may need antibiotics to help clear it :) are the holes on her c section scar?

Hi Alli,

How old is Lulu? When did she have her surgery, and where on her body is this lump? Is the white substance leaking from the lump smelly?

I think it *sounds* like a post-op abscess. Perhaps a reaction to the stitches used. Do get her back to the vets so she can be properly diagnosed and treated - if it is an abscess the vet should be able to lance and drain it without using a general anesthetic. Good luck.

If it is coming from where she was operated from, the likelihood is that it is an abscess - they can form months after an operation.

If the lump is just on the surface and not connected to the operation, it could be a sebaceous cyst bursting (they can secrete a dirty white fluid).

In any case, it would be wise to see a vet and to make sure your girl is OK. She shouldn't need a general anesthetic!

PS: I am very sorry that you and your beautiful girl had to go through such an ordeal. I can fully understand why you are so worried after that!

Thanks So Much For Every Bodys Help So Far!Also I'm Taking Her To the Vet Monday(In 2 Days)!

It sounds like it could be a post op abscess, which can be sorted by antibiotics or maybe a small "clear out" op under local. Guineas tend to heal really quickly and sometimes, the tissues on the surface can heal while there is still a cavity underneath. Infection can gather there and the wound can reopen.

My Celyn had his eye removed on 4th July (emergency op) and it seemed to heal very quickly and well, but a month later, the incision line was oozing a bit and he needed just such a "mini op" and antibiotic packing of the wound to sort it out. He's been right as rain and cheeky as anything since.

Take care and good luck with wee Lulu.

Thank you all so much and so far so good ill let you know when i know more (:

i know when i had my c-section in june i had a infection in my womb 3 wks later the same thing happened to me it became pink and had little holes in the cut area with gunk coming out (this is good) has it self drains ..sounds like she needs some antibiotics maybe worth asking the vets do a swab to see what infection it is.Keep it clean bathe the area with hibiscrub 3 times a day has i was told and was also told this when a guinea in my rescue had a c-section.
If the infection is this bad and wont clear up with antibiotics then they may look at opening her back up and flushing her out(infection)out. But do try to avoid this.
I was told by a rodentoligist that hepar sulphar is very good has it gets rid off puss by working from the inside.
use 1 tablet once a day in the water bottle dont touch it has it distroys the goodness in it and makes the healing affect lesser.i got my hepar sulphar from the internet its for humans its by Nelsons (hepar sulphar)6cc hope this helps a little also maybe give her some calpol 0.2mls twice a day but leave off the calpol 24 hours before going the vets incase the vet gives her a pain killer wouldnt want to over dose her :)

Thank You all SO much!i think that its looking better and i rinse it a few times a day and it looks like its titening up(sorry i cant spell!)

I am glad that the cyst is getting better.
