A bit of my guinea pig's skin in his crests is looking different (it's normally a darker pink but now it's very white with dark around it) Is this normal?

It can be that a skin flake or scab has just come off and what you see is new skin. If the area gets bigger and there is a whiteish crust on it, you are likely dealing with a fungal infection. In that case, you'd best see a vet.
