Senior Guinea Pig
Flumpet, Delilah, Minxie, Joe and Molly would like to introduce the latest member of the household.... Biddy.
This gorgeous girly came to Crawley GPR after she was seized from a house where she had been kept in a budgie cage with a rabbit (the rabbit was in a much worse condition but is recovering well at a rabbit rescue). Biddy came to stay with me and the piggies so that she could learn some piggy behaviour as she was a bit confused about how she should act around other piggies. When she first arrived she dug up the paper in the corner of her cage, scrabbling like a rabbit, then tore pieces off to make a nest in her bed. She soon found her wheeking voice around the other piggies though and loved to talk to them through the bars.
Anyhoo.... I decided that I really didn't want Biddy to leave... but it all depended on whether she would bond with my group.
Biddy got on with the girls very quickly but was not to keen on what Mister Joe had planned for her. We had quite a few stand offs and scuffles before Joe managed to charm her into backing down (although she still ran off if he got too frisky).
We then had a couple of tense days in the cage and I thought it might not work out as Biddy didn't want to interact with the others. Then 2 things happened that seemed to seal the deal. I saw Delilah, my top girl, grooming her and then observed Biddy allowing Joe to do his thing. rolleyes After this, the tension disappeared and all pigs have now relaxed. Biddy made her presence in the group known by inviting herself to sit in the middle of the dinner pile.
It's been well over a week now, so it's all looking good.
Isn't she a corker!
