I want to know if something is wrong with my piggies, when ever I com close to them they start wheeking, but they have never done this before. I am scared that they might be screaming at me due to pain or something like that. I know this might sound stupid, but I just wanted to know.

What are they doing when they make the sound? Are they running away or interested in you?

I think it likely is that they're just wheeking from excitement as they now associate you with good things like food lol. If they did the noise constantly I'd be a little bit more worried, but if unsure a vet checkup wouldn't hurt.

I know my boy Steve is very VERY vocal to the point he is definitely chatting away to himself 😂!

At veg time my lot get VERY excited. Megs wheak is so loud that it sounds like she's being murdered and Christian has now developed his wheak that is only slightly quieter.

Yeah its probably them expecting veggies, Roz became very vocal recently and her new friends are copying the loud wheeks..it's like a science fiction movie noise..Fridge opening..wheeks intensify! It's great..and the budgie has started mimicking them..so he is getting his mini salads at the same times now! 😁

Definitely not a stupid question- how do we learn if we don’t ask?

If a piggy trusts you they will be more vocal - at least mine have become so as their confidence grew.
Jemimah has a wheek to wake the neighbours if she thinks there’s a possibility of food.
Little Micah, my new boy, has a wheek out of all proportion to his size.
The other 2 are quieter. Why should they make a noose when Jemimah is loud enough for them all.
