Wheeking when the fridge opens

The title says it all really! Every time we open the fridge, we get a loud chorus of wheeking from the nearby piggies. They do it even when it's not their feeding time, although it gets louder and louder as the afternoon wears one towards dinner time :)

My OH is not impressed, he's asking me whether we can take the squeak out like we do with annoying children's toys ::) I have told him it doesn't quite work like that, but is there any way to quieten them down a bit before OH banishes them to the garden again?
 
I only have to come in with a bowl of custard for Caitlin and Flora and Fleur go mad wheeking crazily at the bars for some! They also would love a cuppa and a curry pot noodle! 98) The boys aren't too bothered about food for us but if they hear me chopping in the kitchen they assume it is for them and I can hear my big Wheeker Twinkle as his Wheek is much bigger than the others and far more girly! ;D
 
In my house carrier bags are the problem. If I come home with shopping, even if it is not food shopping, the rustle of bags sends them crazy! My OH likes to wind them up bu rustling paper. I always feel guilty then, because they are all waiting for food, so I end up feeding them more!
 
Fridge door, carrier bags and just being in the kitchen set mine off, I love it. :smitten:
They don't usually do it when hubby is there, I think they know he gives them nothing. ;D

One of my girls is very loud, her whole body seems to expand just before letting out a wheek! ;D

Mine too! Any rustling of any bags sets them off - they're wheeking is really loud and even for a short while afterwards (just in case there's slim chance that might actually go to them with some food!) :smitten:
 
mine go nutty just seeing one of us walk in the kitchen!

also the fridge door, cupboard door, and a running tap sets them off ;D or if I'm eating and theyre not ;D
 
Somebody coming in the front door also sets mine off. Usually I am sat studying, and I know my housemates are home before I hear them as the piggies start wheeking. I'm not sure why, as none of my housemates have ever fed them. 98)
 
oh yeah, we get that too! ;D

especially if i get home from uni or work.

bob and munchie have a new fun game ::) theyve sussed out a way to get 2 breakfasts in a morning, sneaky boys!

i always get up early cos of uni, so i feed them before i leave, but sometimes i dont have time, so my bf has to feed them. however theyve recently realised that if they wheek at me in a morning ill feed them, then while I'm out,they demolish the veggies leaving no trace, then they wheek at my bf when he gets up, he thinks theyve not been fed, and feeds them too!
 
I love hearing my piggies wheek! they go mad when they hear any kind of bag rustling as they think its food for them, also the sound of chopping things up in the kitchen sets them off! :D
 
mine can hear me a mile off lol, any sort of rustling and they go mad.

Mine do the same, I find it cute. Not sure how you will stop them, can you move them further from the fridge?

Failing that just move your OH outside lol ;D
 
I have just discovered that mine like wrapping paper! They were going mental, so I have given up wrapping presents for today!
 
Honkey goes mad when he hears the fridge, salad bags but the weirdest has to be him Wheeking when the toilet is flushed!
 
in the summer the horde squeeked when i opened the back door not when the oh did though 98) (glass patio door) now everyone squeeks when they hear footsteps out side the shed! and Ludwig chats to me all the time i'm in the shed! its cute
at least you'll know if anyones raiding the fridge! :D
 
I know this thread is a bit old now but I've just been reading it and it made me laugh because I suddenly remembered that one of my pigs used to wheek along loudly to Barbra Streisand's album 'Guilty' - but only that album! 98)
I love it when they shout for food and have a sing along. :smitten:
 
My girls go mad if i chop anything in the kitchen, it just has to be for them(they hope!) lol and wierdly only some plastic bags set them off.
If i go to put the rubbish bags out though i do get a chorus of baaahs from next doors sheep though, they're always hopefull and i always feel very guilty :)
