Hi Everyone

I was here last year when my boy Oliver had stopped eating and ended up having a procedure to burr down his back teeth. Everyone was great and supportive giving tips, advice to see him through and so I wanted to see if anyone has any thoughts on our current situation? It was a tough week but our boy bounced back and been on form ever since, until last week : (

Took him to the vets last Friday as his nose was wet and sounded like sometimes he was wheezing. Vet gave him a health check and she could hear it in his lungs when he was breathing in. He was put on 0.6ml of Baytril twice a day for a week.

He had his last dose this morning and nothing has changed. He is still eating, energetic etc but so so worried this could escalate and at a loss of what is going on.

Oliver will be 6 in a couple of months and so is an older boy. He has arthritis in his front paw with which he is on daily metacam which he seems to be comfortable with and manages just fine. He is also going blind, but he is as inquisitive and sociable as always. When he was diagnosed with arthritis, it was about quality of life and whilst he is happy and comfortable then things are great. But now I am so so worried with what could be going on?

He has a vets appointment tomorrow morning and looking for any ideas, advice? Our exotics vet Bill who is brilliant is on holiday but the other senior partner who is cavvy savvy is seeing him.

I worry he is suffering with his breathing, but he is still acting normal and not struggling, would hate to think he is not happy and just want to make sure he gets the best care 1st time around before he gets worse or if this is maybe something to do with the older generation.

Olivers brother Keiko was sadly put to sleep last year : ( and so he is by himself now, however he gets plenty of love and attention every day from us and kept in our living room so is in a busy environment with people

Thank you to all in advance : )

Hi, so it sounds like he is being treated for a chronic upper respiratory infection. I'm going to tag in @helen105281 and @Wiebke because I'm wondering whether some kind of breathing incubator type set up might help to clear the wheezing. I've seen a set up by a member here. I've also used a steamer for a pig previously, but it's a little out of my experience.

Thanks Mother Hubbard

Just at a loss as to what is going on. He hasn't got any worse but he hasn't got any better so want to be armed when back at vets tomorrow.

I would ask about whether a nebuliser may help. Your vet may also want to prolong the course.

Thank you, will ask tomorrow about a nebuliser.

Just had him out there for cuddles and no wheezing but it always comes back. His nose is dry but will be wet again in a few hours : (
