My Chester pig has an allergy to sawdust, and so we changed to fleece and it's done him a world of good, we took him to the vet before we did it and she listened to his breathing with her scopey thing and said nothing seemed wrong with him and to see how he got on with the fleece, which has been good, he still has slightly watery eyes, but it seems worse with fresh hay in the cage.

My only worry is, even after the months he's been on the fleece when he wakes up in the morning, he still sounds Wheezy and like his breathing is clicky almost it goes after a while, but in him self he's fine, eats fine, in fact he eats to much we're trying to put him on a bit of a diet actually, but he drinks fine and everything, it's just this occasional clicking in his breathing and the problem is it's not all the time and just as luck would have it, when he goes to the vets his breathing is fine and he sounds normal.

What should i do ?

I had a similar kind of thing with a certain Jeffy pig of mine!

What I found was that it was the hay. I now rinse his hay, and leave it to dry before giving it to him, thus getting rid of any dust. Seems to have worked!

I just run water over the hay, then spread it out on a piece of newspaper either on top of a radiator or in the airing cupboard for a few hours before he needs it.

It rather sounds like he may have a dust or pollen allergy. It would be certainly the next avenue I'd pursue. guinea pigs can have allergy; I certainly have one or two piggies that are very sensitive to hay dust and can get very crackly and clogged up when a new batch is dustier than expected.

I'll give that a try ! thanks (:

Lily, one of our girls used to get a slight wheeze occasionally and do think it was the hay. We've tried every hay under the sun more or less and the one we use now seems to have eliminated it.
She was a bit of a 'bullied' pig when we first had her but is number one to dive into the hay now so think her enthusiasm may have contributed :{

Which hay do you use ?

I notice that when i used a hay tray that he could jump in and lay in his wheezing and his eyes where really bad, but putting it back in a hay rack, much to the pigs disappointment has been much better for him,

I feel so bad taking away his lovely pile of hay to cuddle in ! He trys pulling it out of the hay rack and leaving it on the floor to lay in and i have to scoop it back up and into the hay rack haha.

I wish there was some sort of hay fever tablet for piggies! rolleyes
