Poppy go in with Wilson?

and...

When can I stop using towels for Wilsons bedding...

tomorow will be 1 week after his op...

4 weeks till girls! LMAO

3-4 weeks is recommended for the sperm to die off.

You can stop using towels when his wound(s) is(are) healed, which is an individual thing.

Poppy is Wilson son... so still 4 weeks?
Wilson is getting a bit lonley by himself... so whenever possible I want him to have some company :)

Also how do I tell if it is completley healed?

Doesn't matter if they're related, they'll still try to mate! If possible you could put them next to one another with some sort of divider so they could see/hear/smell one another but not actually be together?

The wound will be healed if it is completely closed, shows no sign of swelling, is dry (not weeping fluid or blood) and not reddened in any way. Before you take the towels away make sure he's pooping and peeing normally.

Hope that helps!

Thanks :) it did help :)

Poppy does try to mate Wilson sometimes... so even though he is a male he cant go with Wilson... is that because Poppy mating Wilson, or Wilson mating Poppy would be bad for his wound?

I would wait 5-6 weeks personally, other than that I agree with everything thats been said O0

Yer... I am waiting 5 weeks until he goes with the girls :)
Its been 1 weeks so far... so only 4 to go...
3 weeks of meds left too! I'm sure Wilson will be thrilled ::) lol

I thought it would be different putting them with males...

Thanks guys :)

I think they thought Poppy was a girl! I would say wait till his wounds are healed completely but keep them next to eachother for company in the meantime as was suggested. They are not mating, but displaying signs of dominance :D

oOOOO my bad, sorry I did! ;D

Yeah, I would just wait until the wounds are healed :)

Cool thanks guys :)

Ill have to set up a small C+C cage in my room for them then :)

I kept Digby on towels and fleece the whole time he was in, and put his hay in a hay rack so he couldnt get any in his scar. He has had a little infection since I put him on megazorb but it was treated and he is great now.

Mine go in after 2 weeks. I've had 50 or so guineas castrated and no problems. I use Vetbed in part of their cage so they can choose when to lay on it. I would take them off it now or reduce to partially cover the cage. If he's around females it could be he's 'used up' all his 'spare sperm' already and he can't make any more but I'd leave him another wheek :)

its been almost 2 weeks and a few days ago I put Wilson into his normal cage... he is healing beautifully... his stitches have almost dissapeared and his hair is all grown back, he is finally being good and taking his meds okay :)

I only found out yesterday (mum told me) this medicine is for Wilson's teeth! lol... I thought it was for healing! ;D

When Wilson got sent hom after his op this was the only meds he got... but Angus got pain killers!

Thanks :)

Time goes so slow when your waiting for somthing hey... lol

another 2-3 weeks before Wilson can visit his ladies :smitten:

hehe yep... he is always out of his house... prob looking for a way out of the cage ;D
