Just looking for a bit of guidance if anyone can help. I had two guinea pigs but sadly one of them died in June. I now have one male guinea pig on his own and would like to get him a new friend. I had him neutered at the end of June so I would be able to get a female companion for him. I have been around the pet shops and the guinea pigs look so small and young compared to mine, who is over a year old now. Will I still be ok to introduce a younger female to the hutch without any problems ? Any help would be greatly appreciated :o)))

Hi Lisa. Welcome to the forum. I am very sorry for your loss. You are welcome to write a tribute on the rainbow bridge thread.

The best place to find another guinea pig is from a rescue. That is the only way to be sure the piggy is healthy, correctly sexed, not pregnant and vet checked. With guinea pigs you cannot just put two together and hope they get on. They are like us in the way they have likes and dislikes. Personality is very important. A rescue will allow your little one to go in and choose his own friend. This link will help you to find your nearest rescue,

Hi :wel:to the forum..

Can you please add your location to your profile as it helps fellow members give any answers to questions you may have that may be area/country specific. This can be done by clicking on your username, then personal details, then add location......As this may help members locate a rescue for you, if you happen to be outside the UK.

Lisa & Ali..
