... do you feed the green stalk as well? Obviously I cut it up and remove the seeds and then the stalk, just due to the fact that I wouldn't eat it. My OH questioned it the other day and pointed out that they eat other leaves/stalks, so why not that part as well.

Just wondering if anyone leaves the stalk in, I know it only tends to be a centimeter or two but if they'll eat it, they might as well have it!

Most definitely no stalks, seeds or leaves rolleyes Tomato stalks & leaves are poisonous to piggies so I wouldn't chance sweet pepper's stalks & leaves either just in case.

I have had quite a few peppers lately with a small (unripe) pepper growing inside - wondered if anyone else has found this. Obviously this mini pepper gets thrown out just incase but its quite weird

Have you ever seen a piggie recoil in horror at the sight of a red pepper, washed, de seeded and sliced? No? Come to my house and watch Bertie!

no but mine are not keen on the green one. Red, orange then yellow in our house is their favourite

Thanks guys, just wanted to double check as don't want to upset any ones tums. I'll just keep throwing it out and giving them the bet bits :)

Did not realise that they could not have the stalk. They always get the stalk in my house & they fight over that more than the pepper. I knew that they could not have tomato leaves but thought it was more suitable like broccoli stalks etc.

I'm rather OCD on making sure no pith, no seeds, no stalk..... and any blemishes that appear get cut out also, but that goes for any veg!

Pepperdog........yes on the odd occassion there's been a 'mini' pepper inside, i'd not feed it to the girls....... i should taste it one time to see what its like. I do taste test most the girls food before they get it.. did i say OCD? arghhh rolleyes

I have been tempted to taste the mini pepper too :red:))

I cut off the white bits on the inside of the pepper too, they only get the peppery part of the pepper

Both mine hate all peppers and broccoli. but i do keep tryin anyway!
It was just veggie time and little patrick was wheekin at me all excited, ive never seen piggie lips fall so fast into a look of disgust as i presented broccoli the he looked at me with sad eyes so i had to add cabbage I'm sure he wont eat it but i left it there incase!

My girls would eat the whole pepper if they could...in one go! I tend to give them sliced pepper with no seeds or stalk, but I tend to leave the pith on seeing as I don't bother cutting it off when I eat pepper :(|) (yes, I'm a bit weird like that!) On the matter of those things inside, I tried it once and it tasted just like normal pepper, only smaller! I can't see how it would do any harm if you did give it to them.

My piggies love pepper, red over green I think! Try and stop Treacle from eating it out of my hand! It's a recent discovery - they've only been eating it about 10 days, trying to mix it up a bit. They eat better than I do most of the time!
I cut out the stalk, white sections and all seeds. Cut it up like I would if I was cooking it :)

How amusing that you see something unusual and think maybe i should eat it lol however if i had seen it there would be no thought and i probably would of tried it hehe

Has anyone taken to growing thier own peppers and what not. Its not that they are entirely expensive..but as much as our little piggys are already munching thier way thru (i have piggy piggys)...I thought..why not plant a few. .....oh and I also discard everything except the green fleshy bits. although...I didnt trim very well one day and someone was in a hurry and threw them in..and I think choco got a little bit of the whiteish part. he's alive an kicking (thank goodness).
