I'm an enthusiastic corner cutter when it is done for the right reason. Finding ways to save time and effort gives you more time with the piggies.
For instance, I used to clip and tuck the fleece so it was absolutely flat and taut. I found since I had the second piece of coroplast on the bottom of each of the two levels, a little bit of tucking really did just as well.
Recently I put a large metal basket in their cage which could be filled with a lot more hay, that saves time.
Last week, I was feeling a bit under the weather, so I decided to skip wiping down the coroplast when I changed the fleece. The sides sometimes get soiled. I decided later that was not an OK corner cutter.
Things I never cut corners on are fresh clean water daily and always plenty of good quality hay.
What about you, when do you cut corners, and when not?

I use to precut all my veggies for both meals in one go and put one half in a tuperware box. Don't know why I've stopped doing that actually.. proabably couldnt be bothered washing the tupperware box! haha that and the apple went brown even in the fridge..

I also started using handtowels down under the areas they slept on the most as these were the wettest. I can whip these up daily and put them in a basket, then when I do a big cage clean they all go in together. But it saves me constantly changing the big blankets when they have had a pee party.

Areas I learnt it's not ok to skimp? Leaving nail trimming another week or two, you just make it worse for yourself because it becomes 'one of those jobs you hate but you dont know why' and for poor piggy who's fingers are crooked. Piling dry hay ontop of wet thinking that it's fine to clean the hay every other day and your piggy is only sat on clean stuff (WRONG.. ahem try grabbing a handful of summer maggots) and finally the completely underrated water bottle cleaning. I think its a good idea as well to make a tea cosey type thing for water bottles. It blocks out the light and reduces algael growth from even getting started.

Feel really bad now because I can't trim the pigs nails for another week and they're already quite long. :(

Dusty- eeeeeeeee MAGGOTS! I bet you learned from that one lol!

Sometimes if they're all silent at 11pm I will wait a little longer before giving them their evening pellets in the hope that it will buy some more time before they start harassing me for breakfast :D (It never works...)
