A non-piggy friend popped in for coffee this morning.

Our conversation went something like this.

Friend: Oh my - is that your guinea pigs squeaking?
Me: Yes, don't worry about them. They'll settle down in a minute once they realise we haven't entered the room just to feed them.
Friend: It's ok if you want to feed them first.
Me: No, no, they have already been fed this morning. They are just optimistic that I might have forgotten (light heated laugh).
Friend : Really, I don't mind if you need to check their food bowls or something (sounding quite worried).
Me: Really they are fine. We have this new baby and he's really loud and sets all the others off.
Friend: Maybe the baby is hungry?
Me: The baby is fine, honestly. He just wheeks all the time.
Friend: But they sound so desperate. Maybe they don't like the food they have.
Me: Look if you want to go and look at the guinea pigs while I make the coffee please do.
Friend: Oh no!
Me: What? What's wrong?
Friend: Now they are all standing up at the bars looking at me. Are you sure they aren't hungry?
Me: Look this is totally normal behaviour. You can still see bits of their morning fresh veg in their cages, their pellet bowls are full, and their hay bags are stuffed. Trust me they are just trying to guilt you into feeding them.
Friend: Do you have a spare apple I could give them.....

LOL! We have a running joke that visitors must think we never feed our animals... as soon as anyone walks by, they make it known that they do not presently have a treat in their mouth and that the newcomer should surely fix this for them!

Ha ha I can’t wait for mine to get like this :yahoo: oh my just saw this emojis too! So cool

:lol!: excellent story and so true......in most cases...but I have one strange piggie who doesn't engage in this kind of behaviour and is silent at dinner time (even when it's late). Although he is very noisy at lap time and when showing everyone that he's the boss. Strange creatures!

We also have a quiet one - Eddi - he rarely wheeks. I think he is happy to let the girls do that on his behalf.
He does rumble strut though - that boy certainly can do a serious low rumble.

This is just brilliant. What a kind hearted friend!

Just had to show this thread to my Mother. We have both been laughing and laughing!
