Thought I would start a little thread, and slowly update as I go.

I got Peter from Jo at Cheylesmore guinea pig rescue on Sunday and brought him home to try with my lone boar Polo. Heres a few pics of how they are getting on.

There first meeting didnt go to plan very well, but i think it may have been partly my fault. I think the travelling and a new home with new smells may have been a little too much for poor little Peter. There was a lot of angry chattering etc on first meeting. But no fights broke out which is good. Ive put the boys in pens next to each other and they seem to be doing much better this way. Polo now waits for Peter at the bars and even curls up next to him. Theres no launching at one another, just a bit of rumblestrutting every now and again. They were both next to each other begging at dinner time last night.

Telling secrets at dinner time.

Todays meeting has gone better. Still lots of dominace being shown but much less agressive to one another. Maybe things will calm down in time. We'll see.

Awwwww they make a stunning couple x) hope everything goes well for them :) xx

aww that last piccie has the awwwwwwwwwwwwwwww factor! They look lovely together and I really hope they become best buddies

Lovely boys! It looks good to see that Peter has already settled in.

If I were you, I would do the intros as soon as you have several hours time to keep an eye on the boys. They will have to work through the dominance as every new piggy of any gender has to; that's how piggy society works!

If you separate them every time as soon as they get into the swing of things, you just interrupt them working through the protocol and force them to start back in square one the next time. Look out for more aggressive behaviour and fights, but mild dominance behaviour rumblestrutting, humping, chattering etc. are pretty much par for the course when two boars meet for the first time. The encouraging thing for you is that both boars obviously want to be together!

Here is more about boar behaviour, what is normal and what is not:

Thanks guys. And thanks weibke, I'll have to find an hour of so before bed to be with them. I have limited room at the moment, as I cant let them near the girlies.

Peters so cuddly and lovely. And he loves popcorning really fast around his pen. Hes a happy boy.

xx.

Oooh, I missed this till now. Lovely to see Peter again - I met him at Jo's last week, with Wiebke and Claire. So nice to see the pictures of them together.
