I've been doing a lot of thinking today about how sad my boar is. I've had him on his own for two weeks now.
I asked my friend to come down with her guinea to see how he would react to guinea noises (rightly or wrongly) and without even seeing the other piggie my little lad freaked out. He spat almost, then stood very still then cowered with bum burrying in the corner of the cage. All evening he has been extremely jumpy and with me too.. he was getting used to me too - what a stuid thing to do.
So OK, now i'm thinking that he may have been traumatised by the ear biting he has suffered (he has 4 bites out of 1 ear and 2 out of the other) and maybe introducing him to a friend is just not for him, and then I think he needs a friend, i know he's lonely.
He's 11 weeks and I know i can't afford a bigger hutch till I save up in a couple of months time, that would make him 5 months ish. Do I introduce a boar baby, and adult, one his age. I really don't want to get him nuetured but is that the only viable option, a female friend. Please help, I wish I had been more informed when I went to buy A guinea pig.
