When to be concerned

Hi all,
Elvis came to me on 10th May from a rescue and the last weight recorded on his notes was 950g on the day of his castration (30th April). I just weighed him and he has dropped to 880g. He doesnt seem to eat very much and doesnt touch his hay so am wondering if its just because he is still settling in and when I should start to get concerned? I am going to take him to the vets for a scrotal check next week anyway but if he keeps dropping weight this week should I take him earlier?
 
Seems like quite a drop but you're using different scales - def. keep an eye on it. Change of scenery and post-op - he's bound to have lost a bit I'd have thought. Weigh him daily to check it's stabilised, and perhaps check his teeth are ok? He needs to be eating hay...

Thanks Sophie, will keep weighing him and see how he does. I just sat with him and hand fed him some hay so I know he's not being fussy about the hay. Hoping he is just adjusting and will gain weight soon
 
I agree with what Sophie has said. It might be worth getting his teeth checked over.
 
Just keep a watch for the next days - he's not dangerous yet, by any means. Just under a lot of stress...

Give him love and reassurance!
 
Aww poor little thing. I follow the rule 1-2oz lost is ok 3oz go on alert 4oz get checked over by a vet. Hope he is ok. :)
 
Thanks everyone, I will weigh him daily for the next week but if he loses more then going to get him checked. I have watched where he prefers to be in the cage and have put hay there for him to eat incase he is still too unsettled to come out for food.
