My girls live in a brick outhouse and during the winter they have had loads and loads of hay and tarpaulin pulled down the front at night and a snugglesafe. I am still giving them their snugglesafe but am just wondering when would be the best time to stop giving it them over night as I have noticed that apart from the wind (which doesn't get to them as they're not outside) the weather has been milder. I will gradually cut back on the hay around May time. I just want them to be able to feel the difference in warmth when it comes to next winter.

I would perhaps still use them for a little while longer claire, anyhow, if they choose not to sit on them, then that's ok, at least you know that they are warm enough.:)

I'd been wondering the same thing about my semi feral cat; I've been putting a snugglesafe in morning and late at night, and wondered when to stop. But I kind of came to the same conclusion as Sharon - and have carried on putting it in the kennel, and she can either lie on it, or further back if it's too warm. I'll have to stop one day, and then will worry in case she feels deprived.

Awwww, you're a good Mum Claire. This reminds me of when my Mum used to tell me to take my coat off when indoors...."you'll not feel the benefit of it when you go outside!" xx

I would wait till the temp is above 10c at night. I am still putting my heater on in the shed at night for now.
