So as you may or may not know from reading my other thread http://www.theguineapigforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=84872, my 3 1/2 year old girl Treacle went on a date today with a beautiful 2 year old Lunkarya named Bernadette. Treacle was escorted by my lovely boyfriend Nick with me at the wheel, and Joanne from Milhaven looked after Bernadette.

I packed my camera, but couldn't find it at the time. So until I can upload the ones from my phone, you have here the moment that they went home :)

There were a few scuffles, trying to sort out who was top pig (definitely Treacle, and Bernadette was happy with that!), but eventually they both calmed down and were happy to cuddle together the entire 55 mile trip home without a single fuss. Even during lap time, when Bernadette got scared, Treacle came back to comfort her and lay down next to her.
Here is the moment they both went home, obviously she is very nervous and will have to get used to the hutch, but I think these two are going to be the best of friends. She even let me stroke her when she was in there! :)

Looks like you have a happy Treacle again and gorgeous Bernadette to get know better as she settles in with Treacle.

Oh you are a lucky pair of piggies! Bernadette makes my knees go weak - sooo beautiful!

Suzy x

Thanks everyone, I'm going to leave them be just for the night so they can get used to each other, but keep checking on them though. Bernadette is the calmest piggie I've ever cuddled, but all the new noises and smells were a bit scary for her. Treacle is a great carer for her so far, and never strayed far without checking she was OK. It reminds me how much I love my girl, and I love Bernadette already x)x)

Awww, lovely. I'm so pleased that Bernadette is settling in with Treacle, these two will be absolutely fine given a little time. :) Bernadette is a sweetheart and I'm not joking when I told you our vet would have snapped her up if you hadn't reserved her, he loved her! She is a lovely girl with a super personality, you have one fantastic piggy there! (Well two really- Treacle is lovely too).

Treacle is a sweetheart, she might have got a bit scrappy at first but now they've got an understanding of each other they will be just fine :) I'm glad she was still available, they suit each other down to the ground :)) x) x)

Matching piggies is a delicate operation believe me (just ask Suzy!) but I'm happy to say I've only got it wrong once in all the years I have paired them. It really is down to each individual personality and these two clicked. :)

Yey! A successful piggie date! How wonderful for them both (and you!) :))

Great news, they look very happy together! Look's like the start of a really good friendship!

Thanks for pics! They look v relaxed together:) Well done to treacle for finding a new friend - with a bit of help from you and Joanne!

I think they were both so calm and snuggly yesterday because they were both very tired and a bit nervous - even Treacle, she went a loooong way in that carrier, it scared her a little. But I went down to check on them this morning and found them both snuggled up in the pigloo together :) x)x) I think it'll still take some getting used to, as they weren't quite as calm when they got hugs, but they fit together very well :))

AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW this is fantastic news! x)x)x)x)

WELCOME BERNADETTE TO YOUR LOVELY FOREVER HOME WITH YOUR NEW SIS TREACLE XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

I know! I was amazed, Treacle got her lucky foot out! She's never normally calm enough or stays still for long enough to get relaxed! lol.

It is great to see your two girls settling down so well.

I put it down to the calm environment which is essential for bonding piggies, and a little quiet background music for effect. :) Either that or my talent for hynotising piggies! :(|)

Quite possibly! Although since day 1 of meeting Bernadette, Treacle has calmed down no end. She would never normally stay put during lap time, and every single time she has stayed close and cuddled up with Bernadette, even letting me brush her! Plus she's been giving me lots of piggie kisses to say thank you x)

Hi everyone, it's me, Treacle again! I just wanted to tell you how happy I am to have a new friend! She's still very nervous but I love her lots, and I want to help Mummy take care of her. I've been looking after her, I promise!
