After you bring home new guinea pigs that your existing ones liked in the bonding session at the rescue. We took Carol, Lexi, Doris, Ruby and Emmeline to Coseley guinea pig rescue this morning to meet a few sows and see whether Carol could join Doris, Ruby and little Emmy (that was a no from Ruby).

Carol wasn't too difficult to find friends for and she's been fine since we got home. From left to right: Crystal, Fifi and Carol.

Lexi was a bit more of a challenge as she got upset every time someone spooked her on her blind side but she still managed to find a couple of sows who didn't react to her fear with aggressive teeth chattering. From left to right: Lexi, Penny and Jasmine. So far they are still managing to calm her down and I've spotted some cleaning mirrored between Lexi and Penny.

Crystal, Penny and Jasmine are sisters so it's nice to have been able to adopt them all. A huge thank you has to go to Reta for her patience and understanding without which there was a possibility of still having some lonely ladies now.

Well done. It’s nerve wracking but Reta is very experienced. So pleased it has worked out well.

My nerves may settle back down once Lexi manages to get past a month or more milestone of sharing her space! Carol's social skills have blossomed since trying to bond her with Doris way back in September and I'm chuffed to bits with how she's handled making new friends, I really would love this for Lexi too as she adored Marley and did her best to nurse him better.

I think the worst pig bonding moment I've had was after Sweep lost Lulu when I knew Aut's had had a meltdown a couple of years before when she met him. Sweep didn't want us to remove Lulu's body (he got quite agitated) so we knew he needed a friend pronto. Introducing him to Aut's, Holly and Ambam was the most anxious I've been and the relief when they accepted him was immense.

Lexi has engaged in some bottom sniffing without incident and the tension level in her C&C has dropped a few notches :D

The ladies have managed to last their first day together with nothing worse from Lexi than some "get away from me" bopping on the head and bottom stalking from Carol. Crystal has been renamed to Maggie. I've even spotted Doris sharing a box with Emmy which is a first from Doris in the week they have been together (she is still laying down ground rules with Ruby but then Ruby is selectively ignorant). We've just cleaned them out and moved them around as Lexi was in the C&C closest to us instead of at the other end which is where she lived with Marley. Hopefully this will reduce her stress levels even further besides which Doris likes to be up close and personal for her food requests!

Great news the girls are starting to settle with their new friends

Well done every pig!
