Could anyone suggest where i can get hay in bulk please (i am a novice GP slave)?
We are using it as bedding (on top of newspaper) and for food. We are getting through a large P@H bale in less than 3 changes as the boys are now in separate cages.
we are in Carlisle, so P@H is v convenient but the amount of plastic wrapping is driving us mad.
suggestions please (shops/websites/friendly farmers etc)

If you drop a private message to Sokel who is a mod on here he may be able to help you as he is in Cumbria.

Failing that google farm shops in Cumbria and something may come up. :) Good luck and welcome to the forum,

You can PM him as he is a moderator :)

He gets his in huge amounts I know so he may be able to give you the name of a farm nearby. Farm hay is usually much better quality than p@h and much much cheaper!

Welcome to the forum Becca. :)

Dust Free Hay (linked by Julie, post above mine) is said to be very good. The cheapest you'll get is a bale from a local farm, but in my experience I find I can rely better on the quality of imported hay (Oxbow) which is bought online from places like www.thehayexperts.co.uk or www.sphsupplies.co.uk

Dont know if your near carlisle but there is a horse wholefood saler opposit WCF in carlisle get hay from there for a good price thing last bale cost about 2.50

I use the Dust Free Hay which has been mentioned and in bulk its excellent costing and such lovely stuff! i wouldnt use anything else!
