My first few pigs were from PAH and i have one boy from a breeder, he was suffering terribly from mites when i got him - rubbish breeder. Since then all piggies are from rescues or handed into me as rescues and some of course born at home from rescue pigs.

x.

I got Lola, Skye, Chicken and Nemo from a farm, well another 2 guinea pigs I got from that farm, who have long passed, were pregnant and then whoa surprise, that was about 7 years ago now though but I kept the offspring. Boris was from a breeder, I saw him and selfishly I wanted him, he's since been neutered though and lives with the ladies. Willow and Boo were from another breeder looking for retirement homes for some of her stock plus I think she was finding the long hair hard work which it is. Miffy, Piglet and Squidgy Pig (she is a devil!) all came from a garden centre and they now live with Ed who was from Walsall RSPCA.

Although I am really not looking at getting any more guinea pigs in the near future I would return to Walsall and a few other rescues mentioned on here

I got my 2 boys from my niece who although not deliberately cruel was neglecting them, hence Aunty Vanda to the rescue. I've never had pigs before so caring for 2 perus was a bit daunting. Luckily I live very close to Suzygpr who has been a wonderful help and showed me how to look after them properly. I have found this forum a great help too.

I absolutely love my little men and shall should I ever want any more it will be rescue all the way

Goofy-Petsmart
Minnie-Petsmart (originally "Mickey", she was bought as a male but ended up being female)
Mickey-Petsmart
Daisy-Petsmart (I bought her sick with a URI and ringworm)
Donald-Minnie/Goofy's son(Minnie became pregnant when she was with Goofy because we thought she was a male, they are now seperated)
Gracie-Kijiji(was saved from being snake food then given to me)
La La-SPCA
Pillow-SPCA

My first two piggies, back in the 80s were from a neighbour who had bred them. Like other people have said, none of us had a clue about rescues back then

My current piggies are all rescues. Fern, Milly & Pip are from Suzy at Glynneath GPR, Isaac is from Walsall RSPCA.

mine were a christmas present from my oh :)
they were from my local community pet shop & were 6 months old when i had them :)
best present i've ever had
my little boy loves them too :)

Mt first 2 guinea pigs when I was wee were from pet smart. They were 2 "girls" Called Lisa and Maggie. Then we had 4 Maggie turned out to be a boy. So we got him neutered and re named them Chucky and Angelica. We kept one of the female babies and called her Smudge.
My mum came home with Boogie and Dingo from Pets at home in April, sadly Dingo died at 11 weeks old. Then we adopted Alfie from a lady I found on gumtree. She had him for 3 months and she had adopted him from pets at home after he had been abandoned outside the shop.

Wispa came from Debbie at The Excellent Adventure Sanctuary.

Hey hey, Debbie kindly helped me out recently with my boy and I saw her lovely guinea pigs (and the most beautiful rabbits, such big eyes!) They just made me smile all wheeking and lovely!

our 1st came from a privet home, cinders ,for my daugthers10th birthday, lived to be 12yrs, fren, pepperpot, and brambley came from the guinea pig farm,up the road from me, and yes l saw how they were kept.which lm pleased to report was very well. the oldest lived to be 10 yrs,the other 51/[email protected] the ones l have now apart from 3 ,l breed from those, with the 2 old ladys being elderberry the top piggy and her sister, ginger whom are 7,1/4yrs.then 3 that came to me afew weeks ago from rehoming, coco, buttercup and chive, all 2,1/2years,all these are lifers.18 all together

My boys came from suzygpr...they were both part of two big separate rescues...

Gino was a baby when he was rescued, and Jamie was born at Suzys as his pregnant mum was rescued. Gino and Jamie bonded at Suzys.

Unfortunately Gino had dental issues, so he was sent to Debbie's dental sanctuary in Noethampton and that's where I first saw them. Gino had a few dentals with Simon and luckily his teeth are now perfect!

My first piggy was Rodney and I got him from a garden centre. I wasn't aware of rescues or this forum for the first 3 years of having him. So he was a lone piggy, who lived free range in my house and was more like a cat! Had I have known at the time that they should have a piggy friend then I would have got one, but he was well looked after and a truly spoiled little boy. He sadly died last July aged 4.5 from an ip to remove a large bladder stone. He will always be my first love in terms of piggies, but my 2 boys now are very much adored and have a very priviliged life compared to what their future could have been like.

Lola and Angel - from a niece whose children wouldn't leave them alone.
Rebel - Lola, didn't know she was pregnant when I picked her up.

My original pair Rosie and Rum came from PAH when a friend told me how great guinea pigs were (I had only have bunnies and hamsters before).

After joining here and moving out of my parent house with my bf I decided to adopt some more

Maggie, Milkshake and Pixie came from a All about the animals rescue

When Rum left for the rainbow bridge I split my girls and adopted another pair

I travelled south again to pick up Gracie and Lizzie from Milhaven rescue

Rosie is still the tamest of the girls but little Lizzie and Gracie are such a joy

My first two Rosie and Georgie (RIP 2009) were both from a local petshop/garden centre.
I joined the forum about this time last year, and this was the first time I had heard about rescues and sow dating.
So after being on her own for about 2.5 years we headed down to the potteries GPR to find out if Rosie, 6.5y would take to another girl- so we came home with Ruby. About 10 days later we headed back to adopt two more girls and came home with Esme and Tia

2 are from NEGPR
and 3 from a "friend" from college and one from a friend of a friend

My girlies are sisters that came from a lady who had a litter of young and was handing them over to an animal rescue centre.
I went with the vets wife to collect the little ones and my two ended up coming home with me! rolleyes

My Lilly came from pets at home originally with her sister Tilly. This was fours years ago now. Tilly only lasted a year before i started to notice her weight dropping off. Once I went to the vet he said she had diabetes and there was nothing that could be done for her other than to keep her comfortable until she eventually pasted. It was heart breaking and watching her get weaker and weaker with nothing I could do still hurts now :(
I started to search the internet for anything that could be done but then I found her in the cage the next day and I was heart broken. Lilly was on her own and started to stop eating and drinking and began to loose weight.
Then i started to look for anywhere where I might be able to find her a friend and came across the Potteries Guinea Pig rescue. After a chat with Helen I brought home Angel, my beautiful Marino :) They were best friends straight away and I started to get involved with the rescue.
Fast forward 2 years and I have 12 rescue guinea pigs plus Lilly. Barley, Daisy, Pheobe, Angel, Tia, Maria, Barney, Magic, Lola, Toffee, Freddie and Fergus. (But not all living together thank God!). Some I have adopted and some are my long term fosters because they have special needs.
And I love every single one of them! :)

Tigger and Munchie - local pet shop.
Teaser, Muffin and Butterscotch - P@H
Bean - Rehomed from a member on here
*deep breath*
Willow & Izzy; Chip; Tess, Leah, Flossie, Panda, Skye, Kalani, Sora, Ozzy, Jessica, Jenny; Einstein - Milhaven GPR.

Can't believe I've had this lot as my complete little family for over a year now. :D

my first two boys came from a breeder nearby. and the 5 I'm getting this weekend are from a family who had some accidents with sexing and no longer want guinea pigs so ive decided to take them in :)

Ours came from a local breeder. He usually sells them to the only pet shop that is currently working in the city, but this shop has a really nice accomodation for cavies (actually, as most shops in my country do). Lots of space, clean and tidy, and they really care for them - they even go through a special training before they start working. It is very unusual for me when I listen to various pet store horror stories in forums.

My three came from the RSPCA Medway west.

Mad we've had a real mix ...
Willow - accidental litter that someone had
Marley & Tyson - from Peterborough RSPCA
Hannon - Taken on from a 'friend' who didn't want him any more.
Pickwick & Pirate - Garden center
Heath & Heston - Hideous Pet shop i've never been to since.
Harvey, Gulliver, Finn & Romeo - Hobby Breeder
Blake - A foster of mine who should have gone to a rescue but didn't because i nabbed him first.
Acorn & Peri - Wood Green Animal Shelters Heydon branch.

My Grandchildrens gerbils died and they decided they wanted guinea pigs. I saw a guinea pig cage advertised on freecycle and got it. As a result of that someone saw my e mail address and contacted me asking me to consider rescuing guinea pigs rather than buying them. Next thing I knew she put me in touch with someone who had 2 girls that her daughter didn't bother with any longer. Consequently the delightful Chatterbox and Honey came to live with us, they have now been joined by baby Poppy bought from the Mom of a girl in my class, an accidental breeding. I've never kept guinea pigs before but I'm now completely in love and hope to have many more!
