I need to start buying hay online.

My Dad kindly use to get me large bags of hay from Just for Pets but I don't want him carrying them after his recent heart attack as I don't drive online is easier.

I am about to buy some hemp bedding off Zooplus mainly for my hamsters but aim to use it for the my outdoor pair of guineas too, under their hay as I can't get megazorb anymore since it went to silly prices.

Zooplus have organic hay at £10! I use to pay £4 something in the pet shop.

Don't want to use PAH.

So where is good for hay?

Only other option is to taxi it back from Just for Pets but that is £8.

Got no space for a bale and no transport for that option.

I will ask around in case there is any local pet shop that offer delivery but doubt it.

Thanks:)

Have you tried local feed merchants? Mine do megazorb and hay in bags. They do free delivery within a certain radius. :)

EBay! Look for hay bales as farmers and equestrians sell there hay on ebay. :)

Hi Alison

http://www.hayforpets.co.uk/ and http://www.dustfreehay.co.uk/index.html are very popular websites to use.

I've used 'hay for pets' myself and I was very impressed with the hay. It seems really expensive at first glance, but the bags last for absolutely ages and my own piggies and all of the boarders loved it!

I ordered a large bag each of Ings, Timothy & Rye and Meadow. Think it came to about £36 alltogether.

The Ings went down best with the piggies, and the Ttimothy & Rye went down best with the bunnies. Both guinea pigs and rabbits enjoyed the meadow hay as well, but the other two varieties were definite hits.

Hope that helps!

Hay for Pets

Hi,

I too use Hay for Pets. It is not cheap if you buy just 1.8kilos, but choose the 9.5kilos and it is good value (includes delivery). It is a large bag that lasts for ages.

They are good people to deal with and will always sort out any problems.

They also do a "free" sample of the three types for just the postage of £3.00. However, the bags are tiny ( a few inches square) but it might help your guineas decide which they like before ordering a bigger bag. Mine, of course, loved all three!

Ive just ordered from www.hayforpets.com. 9.5 kg with free deli every?! £16? yes please! I normally pay about £4 for 1.5- 2kg from pet shops then i have to strap it to the back of my scooter! pain in the butt much?! Had a query and rang up the contact number and spoke to the most nicest yorkshire guy in the world, really helpfull! I would deffo recommend! -c

I met Graham and Anne (the couple who run Hay For Pets) at the Burgess Small Animal Show - they are very nice and remembered where I was from when I said my name.....excellent customer service!

I get our main hay in bales from a local animal feeds merchant, but buy the H4P bags too :))
