Where do you put your pigs wet newspapers, hay, sawdust? In the bin? or do you put your pigs sawdust and hay in a compost bin?

Last summer and the summer before that, I started composting my guinea pigs used hay and sawdust in a compostor in the back garden. But then it soon got full up and it takes a while for it all to rot down into nice good compost to put onto the garden.

I have recently had to throw the hay in the garbage because of not be able to put it into the compost bin. I am waiting for the old stuff to rot down.
We are having strict garbage collections rules soon...I think they will be noteing down which houses put out lots of garbage waste more than recylcing waste each week and they may charge you if you have alot. Because i have to put the hay into the garbage the sacks get full easily. I have to clean my pigs out about once a week sometimes more. And i am sure they know we put heavy garbage out every week.

I dunno what else to do with the hay. I want to start composting again. Mum won't want a 2nd composter in the garden. She did come up with an idea in just putting all the old hay into black sacks and tying it up to rot in there. But how many of those will we have stacked up.

It's getting abit fustrating.

Where do you put your piggies waste?

I advertised mine on freecycle had a few replys and now i have someone collect it weekly/fortnightly

I separate the newspaper from under their aubiose and it goes to recycling, the aubiose goes to my local allotment or on my plants as a mulch and whatever hay there is is binned as it takes too long to compost, so I dont have much waste at all!

Mine goes in a skip! my hubby is a builder so always has one! never thought about advertising it on freecycle! i might do that!

i advertised mine on freecycle too it is amazing how many people want it it is better than putting it in the bin to go to land fill site

I actually put my newspaper and hay in the brown bin which is for plant waste etc... it always gets taken away by the bin men and i refuse to put it in the green bin which is for general waste as it rots down and so does the newspaper...
Freecycle is a great idea!
