Our bins are collected every other week, my compost bins are full, I sneakily put some of the waste in the dustbins, but there is not really enough room, what does everyone else do?sx

Mine just goes in the muck heap along with the goat, duck, hen and goose waste ::)

I put mine in the green bin...And they get emptyed ever 2weeks ¬_¬.

see we dont have green bins,, we must be the only district that hasnt started the whole black bin/green bin thing,, we have a small box for tins and bottles and a bag for papers

Louise - SunshineandTwinkle tends to put it into whichever bin is not the fullest so as to keep the bin men guessing >:D

We have:

Green bin(General waste) Red bin (plastic/carboard/bottles)
Blue box(Paper only) Green box(Tins glass) ¬_¬

All ery confusing.

I buy brown bags and leave it out for the bin men (they won't take it otherwise) ::)

I had about six bags out one time all lined up the street!

It depends on where you live as to what you can do with the waste. I used to be able to put mine in the green bin but they don't want that now, to do with contamination. I just have to bag mine up and put it in with the normal waste. Suggest you phone the Council and let them know exactly what type of stuff it is that you're throwing away and they will advise you. I've got 3 compost bins, all full, so have no choice but to put in the bin plus I've got quite a lot so have to take the excess to the dump every few weeks, it just goes in with household waste.

I'm not sure if we are allowed to put in our green bin so I put in our purple bin for none recycable. I'll ring the council up on Monday and ask, all it is is piggy poop some hay and a bit of piggy pellets and veggies. It's all mushed stuff so it shouldn't be a problem, I fill a carrier bag per day of the stuff. :)

Thanks everyone I didn't realise I could take it to the tip for household waste,so that will be gr8 I go past everyday when I take our labs for their run,it has been getting harder to leave enough room for our normal waste, piggies waste has taken all the room, and with a suspected rat living close I dont want to leave anything out for them to feast on ;D

is it recycleabubble? i roll it up and put it in green bin and hide it but only cos i hate to think of all the paper going to waste.... our bin men couldnt give a toss they all polish i think bless them

Mine goes in general waste bin but at my nanas I put in recyling bin, we do have bins for that sort of thing up here but I don't have the privaledge of having one cos I live in a flat!

You aren't supposed to take pet waste to the tip where i live, there is a specific sign up, it is classed as 'Toxic Waste' lol, and if you leave a black bag they will open it up and give it back to you if they don't like whats in it! We have a black bin for non-recyclabes and a green bin for recyclable, but our black bin gets full up, and we will be fined for putting bags out so i give it to my man's dad for compost, although he is actually building a new bin because i give him too much! I actually have between 6 and 12 black bin bags full a week!

Mine goes out with our bin bags, we are lucky that we still have weekly collection, this is not the same but the 92 yaer old lady a few doors away, goes for a little walk to the shop at 5.30am with a bag, to put in the bins at the shop.... she has a cat!

Unfortunately I have to put mine in the bin. We don't get brown bins here and I was going to get a compost bin and but don't know anyone that would take the compost so it would end up in the bin anyway. :(

I put the hay in the garden recycle waste bin and the paper in the recycle bin :) When I am being a bad girl (when the weather is yuk) I put in all in bin liners and take it to the tip. I have been naughtier than that though with my piggie waste >:Council will take it one way or another >:D

I used to put the woodshavings in our green bin and the bin men happily took it away every week! Now the ladies are on vetbed so they just get a layer of poop's and hay in the bottom of the bin!

We are lucky here because we have a real fireplace with a working chimney. So we tip the hay and poo into the compost bin and then burn the soiled newspaper. We can then either dig the ash straight into the ground or put it in the compost bin.

Like most other people here, we are on alternate week collection - one week recycling and the next week landfill, so i guess if we didn't have a fireplace we'd be in the same problem as everybody else because our compost bin would be overflowing in no time with newspapers from three cages. ::)

I go to the tip every Sunday. With 4 bunnies aswell i have at least 6 bin liners a week.
My local tip are very good they obviously see me every week but never question me :)

We have two black bins, and some of it goes in there.
Alot of it gets taken to the dump and some of it goes in the compost bin

We have a brown bin for garden waste and they sent a leaflet out where it says hay and straw is allowed! O0 We also asked about woodshavings and they said that is fine.

This bin only gets emptied every 2 weeks, and if it is too full we just fill a binliner up with piggy waste and drive down to the local dump, they have a big garden waste container there and we are allowed to empty our stuff in there O0

The yard where my horse is kept is very accomodating and I put all our guinea waste on the muck trailer which is then ploughed back into the land. Maybe you could try local gardeners and see if they would like any for composting, a local lady often collects horse waste from the yard and she asks for a sack of guinea pig waste once in a while to spice up the mix in her compost ;D
