i just wondered where people find the cheapest veg? - i went to tescos last week and spent over £30 on veg for my piggies and it's all gone! I need to go again, but only have tescos, morrisons and asdas, though asda i cant drive so find if difficult to get there. As I buy corn on the cob, it's £1.70 a pack for two and the piggies do like that, but I really need to find somewhere cheap really! I need to try and get my veg cheaper and it's costing too much! I did go to Lidl up the road, but they dont really sell much veg and I can only go on a Sunday and by the time I get there, there's not much left.

Hiya,

Aldi is cheap but I can't find many greens there so I tend to shop in Asda or Tesco's. Lidl is also cheap but again the greens aren't great.

Asda have 2 greens for £1.50. I don't buy as much veg as I used to I was just buying too much and my pigs looked bloated. I can get a weeks worth of veg for 8 pigs at £10.00 - £15.00 roughly. I buy a lot of dicounted veg and my pigs prefer Hay and readigrass.

Look online and see what is on offer in Asda and Tescos. :)

I use sainsbury's they have some good offers on brocolli (buy 1 get one free) and it looks really fresh. And it lasts longer than Asda/Tesco I find.
I spend approx £6-7 in there yesterday on veg for my boys, and it all looks really tasty and I can have some of it as a snack...

Well i get most of my stuff from asda (i get a free lift they and back from the grandad on satruday morings ;D) I find asda quite cheap for veg i spend between £30 and £40 a week there the spinach, kale and sliced cabbage is buy 2 for 1.50 at the moment and as been for a few months the dill and parsly used to be 2 for 1.50 or 1.00 or somthing like that buts if 50p now for dill

and the packed fresh fruit is good to i get the melan medaly its 2 for £3 but at tecso its 2.47 for one thing of melen medaly

if for some reason i cant get to asda i go to tesco i also use my local morrions during the week if i run out of somthing etc which is i nthe same village as where i live

I try to get to the market on a friday to get their fruit and veggies. Otherwise i usually get them from Tesco, Aldi or Lidl.
I went to Morrisons this morning so they have some honeydew melon for later. :)

some shops have a bunny bin where they put all the stuff they cant sell but piggs and buns would love...... I often get cabbage leaves there.
also i go aldi/lidl alot

I usually get my veg in Asda or Lidle - sometimes Somerfield too. I normally only spend £3 - 4 per week. I try and buy things that don't cost too much so that I buy them a varied selection of veg.

and you see i dont drive yet(I'm leraing) but my grandad comes to pick me and mum up on a saturday moring and we go to asda as thats where my mum and grandad shop and my grandad gets his stuff my mum gets the fmaily stuff and i get the piggie stuff

but when i do pass my test i will be able to go and see if there any other places around

Sorry cose I dont come on here much as when I get home my bf is always on his xbox through the net, I forgot to say thanks to all your replies - I'll see if I can get my veg cheaper like some of you do.

Not talking from experiance as yet as in my 18 years of vegetarianism i have yet to eat more veg than you find in the tomato sauce on a pizza but bearing in mind the bargains are usually when it's knocked down in price at the end of the day i found this useful bit of info about the different supermarket policies on when to start knocking prices down:

Si

I spend over £40 per week for our 9.

I use a proper old green grocers when I get into town, coz all his stuff is nice and I can fill 2 carrier bags for £11

I do get other shopping in Asda and sainsbury.

My piggies will not eat cabbage, spring greens, tomatoes, peppers, cauliflower, parsnips.
But will eat packoi, blueberries, fresh coriander, water cress, parsley, carrots, melon etc...

I got mine from Lidls if I travel up there, the market, Tescos, Sainsburys or Asda. May get it from the greengrocers if I can get that job (tehe)
