Hi everyone
I was just wondering where your pigs go if you go on holiday, or away somewhere. Usually my 2 go to a family friend who looks after them really well, and spoils them rotten! I know that I've seen some of you say that you don't go away on holidays because of your piggies but for those of you that do where do your piggies go? Xx

When we go on a weeks holiday, the piggies go to a local small animal boarding hotel. When we go home back to Nottingham for a weekend / few days the piggies come too (they have a hutch there). If we go away for a night or two anywhere else, my neighbour comes round and feeds / keep an eye on them :)

We haven't really been away for more than 24 hours since we got our piggies. My OH's mother has had piggies in the past but as much as I think she's wonderful, I know she wouldn't be able to monitor them properly (she's a childminder with 5 kids most days plus OH's sister's little boy) - if we go away, which is unlikely due to my health, we would take them to a boarding house :) xox

If we're away for 1 night one of our friends looks in and feeds and hays them. If we are away longer than 1 night we board them at the rescue we got our piggies from. This way Joanne has a chance to see the piggies shes rescued and helps with the running costs of the rescue. It gives us great peace of mind to know that our piggies would be pampered. The other great thing is that for boarding our piggies you pay per hutch rather than per pig. The only down side to taking them to the rescue is you then see all the rescue piggies looking for new homes and guaranteed you'll fall in love with one or more!

Mine go to the local rescue, they get so well looked after - huge outdoor runs, 2 bowls of veggies every day, baths, haircuts, massage etc. It's 2.50 a day per pig and they have a free healthcheck while they're boarding x

Haha! I can imagine! It must be awful having to walk away without a few more extra little guests!

my sister has Bertie. I am hoping the girl I got Jeni from will have Jeni and Fiz! If not I am sure I can find a piggie hotel for them!

Mine usually go to friends or family when we are away ..... Where do you find boarding for guineas ?

Wow! I'd like to go somewhere like that myself! Haha :)) That's a really good price too! X

I just had a look online and found Whittle Valley Pet Hotel here in Manchester. We were invited to go and have a look around before we took the girls and the owner was only too happy to answer questions.

It costs me £5 per day for four piggies (£2 for one pig and an additional £1 per pig in the same hutch). I just take their dry food and bottled water (mine don't have tap water) and they provide veggies and hay etc.

Mine stay where they are and i drag my mum to come dog, budgie, snail and pig sit :))

Hi .... We live in ayrshire . I've always managed to find someone to look after our piggies but I've always wondered about boarding as it would mean I wouldn't have to worry that looking after the piggies for us wasnt a chore for someone. Thanks

We haven't actually been away since having the piggies but if we do, one of my colleagues (also a VN) would come and house-sit for us as we have a dog and an indoor cat too!

We use VIPIGGIES which is run by Teejay on here. Tracey and Noel are fantastic, the piggies every need is catered for. I trust her completely and know that she is very experienced and has a great vet on hand in case of emergencies.

I'm lucky enough to have a very reliable and trustworthy friend who stays at mine if I go away which is rarely. He looked after all my animals very well when I went to America, 15 months ago, for two weeks to see my brother get married.

I have never used boarding kennels and similar and hope I would never have to. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with them, it's just personal choice. I think my animals are happier in their own home and familiar environment.

I have been away a couple of times, the first time I only had the herd so they went to my friends in a make shift pen for the 3 days we were away. The second time I had the boys and it was easier for my friend to come to mine.

Thanks for that. I have been looking for boarding in Manchester just in case we decide to go away but couldn't find anywhere. Just looked at this place on-line and it looks great.

Awww, thanks! We try our best :)) x

Since we got the girls, we haven't been away for more than 3 or 4 days & my daughter has come round each morning & evening to feed them.

We were thinking of going away this year & I did a local search & came up with http://www.inglebybunnyboarding.co.uk/

We've been to check the place out & we're quite happy. We were quoted £24 for 2 a week + £2 for each extra put in the same hutch. The woman who's running the place seems quite capable & has rabbits of her own.
