Lightning has had her spay. I collected her in her carrier in the vet porch with no human contact. She's been hiding in hay in her cage. She ate some veg I put under her nose. I need to grab her somehow to give her meds and I'm just thinking I have no idea where her wound even is because there was no consultation. I'd need to hold her firmly to give meds and scared to damage her wound. She's the blob in the hay:

Hi!

Please don't be scared! the operation scar is on the belly. Try to keep the weight and contact mostly on the feet in the first 2-3 days when handling.

The seam itself is very tightly stitched shut with the ends tucked so you won't get the usual issues you had in times past, including reopening or infection.

She will be feeling rather sore and sorry for herself in the first couple of days but as long as she is eating her veg and hay, I would not worry.

Under normal circumstances you would've had a discharge appointment, when you would've been shown the wound and talked through everything. What time did you pick up? I was there today, from around 4.30 until about 5.45. When I say there, I was sat in car!

Wow it was just after 5pm! Would have been great to say hello.

Aw it would have been nice to meet your piggies too. Thank goodness for your guys that Simon is still up and running. Meds are Dog loxicom 0.4ml twice daily and emeprid 0.7ml twice a day.

I would give for a few days! I was losing the plot earlier in the week, when I wasn't sure if they would still be able to open! All our piggies eat normally and have a great life, but only because they get their regular dentals!

OK thanks. I can't imagine what that must have been like worrying about that. You're very brave having the poor dental pigs! 💪

Bless you, glad she is ok. I was going to say I've had one that didn't have a full spay just the ovaries and some of the uterus removed and that was through the flanks rather than the belly. If this had been the case it would have been obvious to you as she had big bald patches and staples holding the wound together

Ooh I'm worried now. I've not seen Lightning's body. She's been a blob in hay in her carrier then cage. I need to stop sitting here and face it lol.

If Debbie and Wiebke say it's underneath it will be underneath. They both use this vet clinic and I don't. Well I have been there for two occasions but not for a spay as I have a closer specialist for things that aren't teeth related :)
