I don't know if anyone can help, but I read a lovely poem yesterday on here, well more of a verse really, I think it was in the Rainbow Bridge forum. It was as if written by the deceased pet and was so lovely it brought tears to my eyes :'(

I'm looking for it again to show someone and do you think I can find it now? Any clues? Is there anywhere else it could be or does anyone know the verse I'm on about?

Thanks . . .

Do you remember a word of phrase that was in it? maybe you could try typing that word/phrase into the search box near the top of the page :)

Good luck with finding it :)

Susie's tears fell from her eyes, someone had left, she didn't understand why.
An empty cage sat on her cupboard,
bedding still lay,
and the food left untouched in a tray
but their was a special note
she could not see
but hear in her heart
from the one who left de.

"Thankyou for letting me stay
so sorry i had to stray
My cage mates who have past took me to the sky
and over rainbow bridge
so dont cry over me please
go share your love on a little kid
a young piggy who needs a home
who sits in a cage all alone
when it his turn to go i'll bring him up to this place
but i will always reserve one special place
for someone who stayed with me to the end
I'm waiting for you my best friend :)

? That the one?

Oh that is very sad, very lovely . . . .

thank you for posting it on for me . . . .

however, it is not that one!

Was it this one?:

IF IT SHOULD BE

If it be, i grow frail & weak
And pain should keep me from my sleep
Then you must do what must be done
For this last battle just can't be won

You will be sad, I understand
Don't let your grief, then stay your hand
For this day, more than all the rest
Your love and friendship stands the test

We've had so many happy years
What is to come will hold no fears
You'd not want me to suffer
When it's time, please let me go

Take me where my needs they'll tend
Only stay with me until the end
And hold me firm and speak to me
Until my eyes no longer see........

I know in time you too will see
It is a kindness that you do to me
Although my tail, it's last has waved
From pain and suffering, I've been saved

Do not grieve that it should be you
Who has to decide this thing to do
We've been so close, we two, these years
Don't let your heart hold any tears

If it was, Niki put it in a post for Lucinda when she lost her Scarby :'(

Gee guys you have cheered me up no end i have just had a mini funeral up top for baby but well you know a good sob will do the trick,

Lovely poem though

All these are so beautiful, but no, not the one I read on here somewhere yesterday.

I remember it ended by the pet saying to the owner that if they continued to give love etc to another pet then in some way they would be continuing to live, or something like that. It was so heartwrenching. :'( I hope I find it. I wish I could remember more of it.

Is this the one? I put this in Badgers thread for Debbie & Ellie :'(
It makes me :'( every time i read it

A Simple Message From Your Pet
by Ken D. Conover

To have loved and then said farewell is better than to have never loved at all.
For all of the times that you stooped and touched my head, fed me my favourite treat and returned the love that I so unconditionally gave to you.
For the care that you gave to me so unselfishly.
For all of these things I am grateful and thankful.

I ask that you grieve not for the loss but rejoice in the fact that we lived, loved and touched each other's lives.
My life was fuller because you were there, not as owner, but as my friend.

Today, I am as I was in my youth.

The grass is always green, butterflies flit among the flowers and the sun shines gently down upon all of God's creatures.
I can run, jump and play and do all of the things that I did in my youth.
There is no sickness, no aching joints and no regrets and no aging.

We await the arrival of our lifelong companions and know
that togetherness is forever.
You live in our hearts as we do in yours.

Companions such as you are very rare and unique.
Don't hold the love that you have within yourself.
Give it to another like me and then I will live forever.

For love never really dies and you are loved and missed as surely as we are.

Your pet in heaven.

Beautiful words in all these poems :smitten:

Could we have a permament thread at the top of RB with all these poems in it, i'd like to be able to use them at times to send to friends, it would be easier to find them this way. Just a suggestion.

I agree. I think that's a fabulous idea. Why don't you post that in the suggestion board in case the mods aren't reading this topic?
