When the weather is lovely like today I like to let Picasso and Houdini run around the backyard free range. I checked my yard long ago to make sure all of the plants are guinea pig safe and there is nothing that could possibly be dangerous to the boys when they are out and about. Normally when they run around free range I am outside with them or watching them out of the window, if it's not me that's with them, usually my mother is in the yard gardening, so they are never unsupervised. As you can imagine they absolutely love this and run around and graze like their wild ancestors did, noming up clover and dandelion leaves and making nests and cubby houses to play in under bushes and shrubs. The yard is pretty big so they get lots of excersize and fresh air running around like this all day. On days like this I leave them out from 9am - 5pm, bringing them snacks and drinks every so often and then when it starts to get dark I take them inside. Normally after a day out like this the boys eat their dinner with a hearty appetite from all of the running around and plop down to sleep like little logs.

AWWW - Picasso and Houdini look very happy indeed!

My previous piggies used to enjoy their time out in the garden as well - in summer that was most of the day if I was around and could keep an eye on them. They do come to life, don't they?

Hopefully, I can try later in the summer with my current lot as the rats seem to have gone now - although it won't be easy to collect nine unwilling bundles!
