My old sewing machine went bust as soon as I was getting started on making more cosies. This May (I think) is when Bobtail's rescue is going to have a fair where they will sell and do lots of things to raise money.

Someone named Jim, whom I think is the main person of the rescue had kept one of my cosies and thought it would be great if I could sell this at their fair. I am so excited as I thought my cosies would not qualify to sell :(|)

My new sewing machine is a brother one... this one...

I saved up a lot for this and so pleased that I can now get started.

Problem is, fleece is quite expensive.. some are selling a metre for like £10 which I am not sure is a good price?

Please can you help me find some cheap fleece if you know of any places. I thought having different colours and some print ones would broaden choices for the customers.

Thank you in advance :) x

Otherwise, primark or supermarkets (acrylic/ployester bed throws) are also a good source.

I buy alot for my shop (www.guineapigcomforts.weebly.com) from tia knight on ebay £4 per metre £2.50 delivery but no more than a fiver if you buy a few meters in one go, delivery is usually within 2/3 days communication is a bit pants as they dont reply but they do solve your any issues (postage didn't automatically deduct but they refunded the difference)

I got some from IKEA for £1.60 each (they are called IRMA) & are 130x170cm but the only colour is pale blue. They are fine for cosy beds etc as they are not too thick for the sewing machine & they wash well too. They did have some other fleeces in different colours but they were a bit more expensive. :)

I was at ikea and the pale blue fleeces have been reduced to 89p, this doesn't seem to be a short term promotion but I got 4 just in case it was.
I agree that they do wash really well and when you put them in the washing with a red towel they come out a nice purple colour even though it is a bit streaky :red

Thanks for the links, I was thinking of asking something similar myself as I want to make some little piggie cushions!

What do you guys fill the fleece with? Or do you just fold the fleece on itself?

I made some little cushions & bought the cheapest pillows filled with 100% polyester that I could find (Wilkinson, ASDA, Matalan etc.) for the filling.
The first one I made was just like a small version of a normal cushion but when I washed it the filling went all lumpy. So I now make the cushion, put the filling in, sew it up & then sew some channels/ridges in it (similar to a duvet) & they are fine when washed.

Some people use wadding, which you can buy by the metre from places like dunelm, I found this was really good for a square house, and for my moms patchwork quilt, however i have also used normal teddy bear stuffing for some cosey cups, (my stuffing was actually from cheap sofa cussions, but you get the idea)
