Wasn't sure where to post this, feel free to move it wherever! :p
My current cage currently sits on top of my dresser but I have ordered a new cage which is larger, 120cm in length I believe and I don't think it is going to fit on the dresser, even if it does, do piggies like being up or do they prefer being on the ground? It will have to stay in my room as my flatmate doesn't want Skittles making a mess of our flat. (He is really picky and a neat freak)
Thanks! :)

I have always found they prefer being higher up as they feel more intimidated on the floor, however mine have grown used to being on the ground now. Just dont place them near a radiator, or in any drafts or direct sunlight.

My piggie cage is on the dining table in the living room and the piggies never seem to mind the height. Just have to be careful when picking them up because it's a long drop. Hope this helps.x

He does seem to enjoy being high up and watching the world go by.

its great that you're upgrading as that zoozone 1 is far too small :-) great cage for a hamster though if you mesh the lid :-)

It is easier to socialise with your piggies if they are higher up. Great that you are getting a bigger cage! Sadly, too many shops still sell far too small cages. That will also give you storage space underneath.

It was all the pet store sold and worked great when he was little, but he is now huge and needs more room. Also I want to get him a friend and obviously need more room for that.

You may find you'll need even bigger than 120 if your planning on having 2 boars together......

Boars need a lot of space otherwise they could (not saying they will) but could fall out and need to be permanently separated.

I'm not suggesting your boar would be better alone, but take him to a rescue that does boar dating and let him chose his own new friend, that way it will be a stronger bond between them.

That's my plan, the problem is the closest rescue is in Edinburgh and I am not sure how Skittles would do on a train.
The pet store I use now is really small and they might let me board date there if I am unable to get to a rescue. The owner is a really nice older guy who really seems to care about his pets.

Well either way good luck with it. Though i do know lots of members take their piggies on trains when taking them to the vets or wherever else. xx

I will probably do that, I have a tenacity to over worry about my pets. He is still recovering from a dental procedure, and I wouldn't want to get a friend for him until I am on my two week holiday from Uni in April so I can obsessively watch them to make sure there isn't any fighting.

Skittles new cage arrived today, it's bigger than I thought it would be and I am going to have to re-arrange my room to make it fit! He loves it though, as soon as I put him in it he stared trotting around, burrowing in his hay pile, and eating and drinking more than he had since his dental procedure. If he is happy, I am happy.
