Which bedding do you use?

I've been swapping beddings a lot recently to try and find the one that will suit me and my pigs best, currently they're on a mix of old fleece and towels/ aubiose, they're going onto a proper fitted fleece liner soon since I can't get it right on my own.

Anyway the point is, all this swapping has made me curious which beddings people use and why, please let me know :)
 
Fleece here, with large hay trays to offer hay piles and try to contain the mess a bit.

Started off with Aubiose, but it was pretty messy (the pigs are inside) and the sheer amount of waste bothered me (even though it all went to compost).

My waste goes straight to my mum's garden so I don't usually feel too bad about it, I do use soil as bedding quite a lot which the pigs love and it doesn't feel so bad since you can pretty much put it straight onto the plants:)
 
Last time around I started off with Back2Nature, moved on to Carefresh, then finally settled on Megazorb.

I've never been able to find megazorb at a reasonable price around me, seems good though

I usually bought it from Amazon. Looking at it at the minute, you could get one 85 litre bag for around £15, or two bags for £25. And a little went a long way with it. Megazorb's biggest problem is that it has a smell that I know some people find offputting. It never bothered me though.

I'll give it a try if the liners don't work out ^^
 
I use aubiose though I have tried wood shavings and fleece as well. Mine are outdoors pigs though and I find aubiose works best for that
 
Snowflake is fine for piggies, quite a few of us owners use them. ;)
 
I like the way you can flatten it to make it reasonably level under foot. This is where my two live - in their own shed. ;)

It costs between £8 and £10 a bale depending where you buy it from, my pet shop orders it for me, it costs me £9.50, but I have seen it on sale for £8.50.

I started off using aubiose, but really struggled to get on with it. I found it very dusty (which set my allergies off) and messy. It always seemed to get everywhere (my boys like to charge around, so, yeah, flying aubiose!), and I also found the poo skipping and full cage clean a lot of hassle. Also didn't like that I ended up with quite a lot of waste at the end of it.

I've switched to fleece and find it a lot easier, even though I now have two sets of piggies. It takes half the time to poo skip (literally just brush it all up with a dustpan and brush set) and do a full cage clean (pick it up and brush it off, and then put the clean liner in) and I have a lot less of an issue with my allergies, because there isn't the dust. My guinea pigs seem to prefer it, too. I've had my girls about two weeks now, and they've adapted well to it.
 
i use Aubiose for my hutches,sometimes i use softchip bedding as only £6.00 a bale.megazorb is good for litter trays.i like vetbed for indoor cages.
 
I used a brand of paper bedding that isn't Carefresh, it's called Living World Soft N Comfy. It just absorbs a lot better than the Carefresh does. I tried to switch to fleece a couple of years ago, but Sundae was freaked out by it (she was older and blind and didn't do well with change, so when she was still freaked out to go back into the cage after a week I just changed back.) I didn't really relish the extra laundry either... I already have three kids and a spouse and adding extra towels/fleece took longer for me than just tossing the paper bedding into the composter!

I've never heard of blind pig panicking like that, what did she do?
 
I started out with Carefree bedding. Currently, I use fleece and Carefree bedding only in the hay tray. This has worked for us. I also use puppy pee pads in their cages and playpen.

Where do you buy your puppy pads? I can't find any that don't look like the pigs would try eat them
 
I used to use Kaytee Clean and Cozy and Carefresh but a few months ago I switched to fleece and am so happy that i did. I only use fleece in the boys bigger side of the cage with a towel under, and All Living Things Absorbant Cage Liners in the smaller part only.

I just got a fleece liner today and the pigs seem to be loving it, it's so tidy too. I see why so many people like it
 
I’ve recently moved my girls outside and switched from fleece to megazorb. Loving that there’s less laundry, but finding it quite difficult to deal with the megazorb because it flies everywhere and I’m not much good at finding the wet patches. Doing a full clean of 1 hutch took me an hour at the weekend, I could do my big C&C cage in 15 mins!
 
Sorry that you are having troubles. Maybe try using a paper based bedding? Those are very absorbant. Also for the bedding flying everywhere, maybe you could get some coroplast and line the insides on the hutch with it?

I have fleece for all of mine... bedding was getting way too expensive, mind you i do have 7 of them and they're all in large CC cages. I spend half my life doing laundry... it's amazing. Another downside to fleece is that you do have to clean up more often.. I do pick up their poops about three times a day (what i spend the other half of my life doing). I do find bedding quite messy too, i would have bedding everywhere around the house, and quite dusty.

I got these puppy pee pads from local PetSmart store. I also saw similar ones at Costco, which will be where I will buy them next time. I use these under the fleece bedding.

I find Aubiose works best for my outdoor piggys. It doesn't cause them any problems, they do come inside when it gets really cold and yes, I agree it does made a mess so we tend to use a mix of fleece and bedding when inside.
