Alfalfa is ideal for pregnant mummies and babies, its high in calcium so is good for building up strong bones, but shouldn't be given to older piggies only as a treat.

ok thank you do you know if i can buy that in a shop? i cant see it on pets at home website

panic over its in the food I'm getting lol! goodness me mallethead

I would still feed alfalfa hay too. maybe another member will be along soon with somewhere you can get it.

ok thanks, i've just changed my mind on the food too i've gone for excel nuggets... which has no hay lol so i still need the hay

You'll always need hay anyway my lovely, a pile of good quality dust free hay should be available to your piggies at all times, regardless of what food you are feeding, excel nuggets are good though. x

ok lol thanks. so should i get this timothy hay as well as alfalfa hay? (going shopping to get it all in min8;)

How old are your piggies?

Timothy hay is really good for older piggies say 6 + months, younger than that alfalfa hay is recommended. Meadow hay is fine too but must be dust extracted.

unlimited pellets for babies, then as they get older just a handful a day each.

Do you need any help on the fresh food front? The do's and dont't / cans and cant's?

x

they'll be tooo young poor mites, 4 weeks. so its def alfalfa hay i need.

i'm gonna sort the veg cans and cants tonight :(|)

so i'm getting nuggets and alfalfa hay lol
wish me luck!

When do you get them? Please wean them off their current dry food when they arrive, it will upset their little tummy's to all of a sudden stop one and start another.

I would feed both hays; timothy topped up with alfalfa. Alfalfa is strictly spoken not a grass, but a legume. Timothy hay is the best hay for a smooth digestion.

Please remember that your little ones are now eating pellets fully and that there is a good deal of calcium in the pellets, too! Start gradually limiting your pellets when the weekly growth rate starts slowing down ata few months old.

Tegan hasn't had any alfalfa since she was about 5-6 weeks old, and she certainly hasn't suffered!

i get them saturday.. so i'll ask for some of her food shall i? and then mix mine into it, then as hers gets eaten keep adding mine? thats' what i'd do with my dog (i know they diff but you know what i mean lol)

also i cant find this alfalfa hay anywhere!? only timothy

thanks alot, i'll reduce slowly.. see how it goes.

thanks for link too i'll look properly once fed children :{

thanks peeps, i've just ordered the hay.. do you think they'll be ok with timothy hay until that arrives?

hi everyone i'm having a hay situation and need advice... my alfalfa hay is on it's way and should be here within next 2-3 days although its coming up to weekend so anytime from now til monday...

so i've bought a pack of meadow hay? will that be ok to get them through to when the alfalfa arrives? it may arrive in time but if not can i use this?

i dont think they are on alfalfa at the moment :(

Meadow hay will be fine for them, we just advise to give alfalfa because its higher in calcium so good for growing bones.

When i had babies years ago before i joined mine only had meadow hay (because i didn't know any different) and they were all fine, don't panic.

ok thanks you. i found it in the 99p store? its dust free and i've read it all and seems ok?
