Can I please have some links for good hay... there are so many I'm getting confused which to buy and where to get it. Many thanks. Oh I have 2 boys Oliver and Charlie

I buy from hay and straw (used to be hay for pets). I get 9.5kg bag of ings hay. Can be a little hit and miss but most of the time is lovely.

i use a farm bale of meadow hay, timothy hay from timothy hay.uk,oxbow orchard grass from hay experts.occasionally ings hay from hay and straw company.

Mine get meadow hay from a local farm plus vita munch 1kg compressed hay blocks, (2 usually as I have 8 pigs) and several times a week they get several handfuls of the green Timothy hay from timothyhay.co.uk (9kg bake).

dust free hay soft green hay is often well loved www.dustfreehay.co.uk We get our meadow hay from a local pet supply store and also feed alongside Oxbow orchard grass and Oxbow Timothy Hay

Getting down my first 9kg bale of timothy hay from timothyhay.co.uk as all 5 girls seem to love it, but not sure I'm going to have enough to last now until they open again on 5th January. So I'm looking for alternatives .... The girls don't like anything too coarse either and I've tried the soft meadow hay from Dust Free Hay, but the box I had wasn't soft at all - felt quite dry and brittle to be honest and they didn't like it either, so wasted most of a box! Wondering what their timothy hay is like as it seems pretty expensive? Anyone had some recently?

The B&M Timothy hay with marigolds and dandelion is really soft and lovely quality.

1kg for £1.99.

Thanks Kate, might pop in and take a look.

I was a bit sceptical when I first saw it but decided to try a pack as it was so cheap.

It's some of the best hay I have ever bought!

Bought some of the B&M hay today and it's in the cages now - awaiting a verdict as I stumbled when putting it in and scared the life out of all the piggies  so they're still a bit reluctant to climb in the hay tray!

I get my hay from my local farm. I get a big farrm bale for £5. My Piggies love it

I've looked around for local farms, and surprisingly can't find any - I'm not in the middle of a city! Perhaps it's more a case of you have to just 'know' where they are.

Do you know anyone who is into riding? They (or the stables they ride at) would know where to get locally grown hay I should think.
I get my meadow hay for bedding from a local independent pet supplies shop. They get it from a local-ish farmer who bags, labels and delivers it direct to them. Do you have any independent pet shops in your area you could try?

I do actually - used to ride myself, but the bales that were available at the livery yard were huge - really huge! The girls have tried (and disapproved) of the local pet shop hay. They do however really like the timothy hay from timothyhay.co.uk, but I was really just after a stop gap kind of supply, until I can order some more online.

Perhaps you could approach the farmer who supplied your livery yard directly, and see if they'd be willing to sell you hay in smaller amounts ... I use the local meadow hay for bedding, but my 2 boars seem happy to eat it too when it's fresh in to their cage, Otherwise I get orchard or timothy hay from the local shop or The Hay Experts.

The hay I get is in huge farm bales ( like you see on the field - the oblong ones) and I can just about fit 2 in my car in black bln
Bags. I store them in the garage and they last between 6-11 weeks depending on the time of year. In winter use twice as much as I'm the Summer as I have outside piggies. I need to restock next week.

I know the size you mean, but I’d struggle to store one of those in our garage (with all the other stuff in there). The bales I used to use for my horse were about 4ft tall by approximately 12ft long!
