Hiya :) I'm new here, looking for advice on hutches :)

I'm getting two guinea pigs soon (probably from a rescue/rehoming centre) and amazed and overwhelmed by the choice of hutches available!
So i'm looking for advice on what i should be looking for in a hutch....I'm assuming weatherproofing, maybe plastic floors/trays for easy cleaning, ability to add a run, what else do i need to look for?

Also what brands are best for longevity/quality etc?

Many thanks :)

sorry only just found the housing section which this should have gone in :red

Just thought i'd add, they'll be outside until autumn time when they'd come inside. They'll mainy be indoor piggies though :)

Looking for a 4ft hutch i think, probably double decker, maybe with run attached, or at least that option to add.

Ryedale is the best quality from what I have heard but they are pricey.
I like The Rabbit Hutch Shop and The Happy Hutch Company :)

thanks to both of you :) wow that hutch looks fab! *runs off to look*

*back* wow theyre really good! very reasonable i think, you can see the quality is there :)

That is a good price for a hutch and complete run, though I'd recommend a 2-foot hutch depth if you can stretch to it. I actually purchased the 6-foot by 2-foot version of this: http://www.happyhutch.co.uk/rabbit-hutch-and-run-combinations/74 I like how we can leave the hutch door open all day and the piggies can wander in and out as they please.

Our run can't technically be used on its' own as it's designed to be permanently attached to the front of the hutch. We haven't screwed it in place though as it sits very securely in position and then we can stick it on the grass on a nice day as long as the hutch side is against a wall.

For non home made hutches (which are always the best, find yourself a builder friend!) id always reccoment either 'the rabbit hutch shop', Happy Hutch Company or Ryedale.
