Hi everyone :)p
I currently have 4 sows who share a C&C, a 1 year old, a 5 month old and 2 babies. The 5 month old seems to be very alone and is always sleeping and eating on her own whilst the other 3 stick together. I am expecting a neutered boar in a few weeks and was going to have him in with the girls after 6 weeks of quarantine but now am thinking of pairing him up with the 5 month old sow as she doesnt seem happy with the other girls. I have also been asked if I want a baby sow by a friend so another option is to pair her up with the baby. Which would be best or should I just wait and see if the 5 month old settles in better in time? (she has been here for little over a week)
Thank you

Jools x

It's still very early days - give her a few weeks to settle. We tend to be too impatient, because we like things to go the way we wants them to go!

How old are your babies?

The babies are 9 weeks old. Thank you for advice, will give her time. I just feel sorry for her as she seems to be so alone :( Think I'm too soft :red

I had a couple that took over a month to really start becoming friends - only days before one of them had babies. But they ended up being very attached to each other.

Your new one will still feel like an outsider, as mummy and babies are used to each other. It can be a tough sitting by... Once you get the boar things should change again, but leave her to settle in first.

The 1 year old isnt the mum hun, the 1 year old and 5 month old came in together. The 1 year old settled right away but the 5 month old hasnt, she may just need some more time.
Thank you for replying ;)

OK, I've got the facts straight now!

Guinea pigs are like humans - you get the sociable ones and the shy ones... The shy ones simply take far longer to settle into new surroundings with new companions.
