Just seen some lovely little himalayan guinea pig sows at a local rescue. There is also a small baby white piggie. I love them. I dont suppose I will add more to my current pair but in case I want to which is better a trio or a quad? Also is it better to have a neutered male to make up the third or fourth in the group?

I just love himmies sooooo much.

I don't think there is a bad choice as in by picking three you are in the wrong. It's just with a trio there tends to be a piggy that is sometimes left out or doesn't have the one on one bond like the others. With a quad they all have a strong bond with at least one piggy. A neutered make would work but it isn't neccessary it depends on your choice I suppose. :) himalayans are cute!

I have a trio of sows, but that's only because one of mine died. They were perfectly happy as a quad.
How many have you got now flowerfairy.

@flowerfairy I know it's a long way away but I think Stewybus still has his gorgeous Himi pair; a girl & a neutered boar :) He runs Teeside Rescue but I am sure a piggy train could be arranged if he agreed to you rehoming them :)

Jessie, i was wondering about one being left out ...

Skittypigs oh i know there is something about them.

I have two tiamolly. Mistletoe and Jingle. They are so well behaved and great.

Kavy kung fu that is really interesting. I would be so sorry for the left out one.

Poppysmum a himmie neutered boar and sow pair sounds amazing. If my set up was bigger I would be tempted with my head and heart. M and J have a 150 x 70cm indoor cage which would be a bit cosy for four!

Thanks for replyng to my ramblings peeps.

Oh don't feel sorry for her, it's her own fault she's left out all the time :)) She's a happy pig though, she's just socially awkward.

I'm lucky that no one bullies each other actually, we get some humping in the youngest 2 during seasons but that quickly subsides.

Also those measurements are more or less what I'd recommend for 2 piggies, you'd need way way more space to more than 2 :)

Yes way too small for four. Thats what I meant by a bit cosy. I always prefer to go as big as possible.
